Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD)
|
|
February 1, 2023, marks the 37th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life. WSF is coming out of 2022, emboldened by a year-long celebration of Title IX’s 50th Anniversary. This year’s event will serve as the kickoff for the next 50 as we build on the landmark law so future generations understand their rights to equal
access and opportunity.
A vibrant movement we celebrate annually, NGWSD honors the achievements of girls and women in sports and continues to Lead Her Forward by acknowledging the power of sports to unlock her limitless potential.
The Women’s Sports Foundation applauds the vital role played by the individuals and organizations who join us in championing this effort: advocates seeking to protect Title IX and advance gender equity, athletes using their platform to inspire greatness, and coaches working daily to promote play.
We invite you to celebrate NGWSD in your community and to join the Women’s Sports Foundation as we Lead Her Forward in 2023.

The official release date of the book was January 21. It can be purchased on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Book description:
Bryan Joas was an active forty-five year old man, with a wife and two children. He had been biking and racing since he was sixteen. On March 8, 2016, with predicted highs in the mid-sixties, Bryan had ridden his bike to work with the intention of taking the long way home to get in some training miles. About twenty-six miles into the ride home, he was struck from behind by a vehicle which fled the scene. Good samaritans found him. Authorities were notified and they determined Bryan needed to be airlifted to the Level I Trauma Center at North Memorial Health Hospital. His wife, Shauna, and their two children were at home finishing dinner and preparing for bed, when there was a knock on the door. They were shocked with the news that the police officers delivered in person. This book is a graphic yet poignant memoir of Bryan's traumatic accident and his subsequent recovery journey as recounted by his wife. She details not only the journey of Bryan, but how she survived during this major upheaval in her family's life.
