Three Points Post
10/26/2020 ~ Parent Newsletter
From: Miss Diebner
5th Grade Teacher

Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.” Luke 6:47-48

What does it mean to dig deep and lay a foundation? In construction and building it is essential to dig deep below the ground in order to create a stable foundation. Engineers know the importance of needing to go down deep and excavate to reach the bedrock. This process allows them to build something on a firm foundation so that it will withstand time. Luke tells us in his gospel that a life with Jesus is built much the same way. If we want to withstand the storms of life, we must first dig deep and develop our foundation. This process may not always be easy; excavating never is, but it is always worth it.

As we have studied this idea of digging deep to lay a foundation, we have discovered that God is the perfect foundation. Some of the ways we can grow in Christ and build our foundation are through reading His word, worshipping, praying, having faith, and being kind. The more we engage in these activities the firmer our foundation becomes.

Like in construction, digging deep and laying a foundation is never a solo act. We were created to be in a community that supports one another and grows one another. As we build our own foundation, we can work to help others build a solid foundation.

My deep hope for my students is that they would dig deep to lay a foundation on the Rock, a foundation on which God can build His kingdom through them. I encourage you to join us in this endeavor.
Thank you for your patience this morning as we began the new protocol with the Magnus Health App. Your continued support to keep our campus safe and healthy is greatly appreciated.

If you have problems with the app, contact our Operations Director Kevin Thomas (kevin.thomas@bellevuechristian.org.)
Cold & Flu Season

As we move into cold and flu season this year, symptoms for either can make it confusing and problematic when deciding whether to send your child to school.

Fortunately, you don't have to make those decisions when you are completing the daily screening on the Magnus Health app.

A stuffy or runny nose, headache or nausea, for example, are considered COVID-19 symptoms. If your child presents these or other COVID-19 like symptoms, please follow the guidelines provided by King County Public Health to ensure your child can return safely to school.

Note: Out of an abundance of caution, the quickest way for a student to return to school after showing symptoms is to have them tested for COVID-19.

We appreciate your cooperation to keep students, staff and faculty healthy and safe and your partnership to keep school open. Please take a moment to review the two scenarios you may face this school year:

Scenario 1:

If your child has 1 or more COVID-19 symptom(s) and has tested NEGATIVE, s/he can return to school:

1.   After 24 hours have passed since fever resolved (without medicationAND
2.   Symptoms have improved

If they are a close contact of confirmed COVID-19 case and have a negative test result, they still must quarantine for 14 days.

Proof of negative test is required.

Scenario 2:

If your child has 1 or more COVID symptom(s) and has tested POSITIVE or had NO TEST: s/he can return to school:

1.   10 days after symptoms started AND
2.   At least 24 hours have passed since fever resolved (without medicationAND
3.   Symptoms have improved

If you have questions, please refer to our COVID-19 webpage or contact Principal Vicki Britton (vicki.britton@bellevuechristian.org).
Music Update
The beat goes on...a little differently

Temporary changes are coming this week for the BCS program. The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, (OSPI), the State Department of Health, and the Department of Labor & Industry have recently issued regulations on Employer Health & Safety Requirements for School Scenarios. The immediate impact of those regulations is that we have to modify the choir and band substantially starting this week. We are pushing OSPI to grant us a waiver, but singing must be curtailed until one is granted, and the band is reduced to strings and percussion. We have very energetic and creative music staff who are designing activities to continue music education for our students. We look forward to returning these classes to “normal” at the earliest possible date.

Dear Parents,

The Parent Teacher Fellowship E-Board would like to invite you to an online gathering on Nov. 18 to get to know our team a little better. We'll be talking about how we came to serve on the board, what we do in our respective roles, and also speak about our goals and aspirations for the year.

In addition, Principal Vicki Britton will be joining us and will use the occasion to share her Deep Hope for Three Points during this unconventional and unprecedented time.
This will be a great opportunity to see one another face-to-face and cultivate togetherness when many of us feel distant and disconnected as a result of the pandemic. We hope you'll join us for this substantive, informal, and brief video chat.
