Thanks in large part to two friends . . . we have a few more events on the calendar
(Side note: Big Thanks to Mark Germanos and anyone else who sends me event updates.)
See my blog - blog.smallbizthoughts.com - for the post on Harry Brelsford's Roadtrip Roadshow in support of breaking down the digital divide. I've added those stops to my calendar below.
And coach James Kernan has put up some Mastermind events for June, September, and December. In other words: He's as hopeful as I am that we'll be back out and about by then! In case you don't know James, check out the his appearances on the SMB Community Podcast - as both a host and guest.
I am still hopeful that I'll be doing my own roadshows in May in Canada. But first, I need to get a Covid Vaccine. Second, the federation of Canada needs to be open to American visitors. And, third, I really don't want to fly with a mask. So I'd like that to be a thing of the past.
We shall see . . .
I am an eternal optimist.

Harry's Pop-Up Roadshow for Charity
Longtime Seattlelite Harry Brelsford has been living off and on in Austin, Texas. Now he's making the big move.
So, along the way, he's organizing an equipment collection to benefit Digitunity, an initiative of National Cristina Foundation. They are working to eliminate the technology gap.
I posted the official press release on my blog - https://blog.smallbizthoughts.com. The roadshow hits Boise, ID today (March 1) and Salt Lake City, UT tomorrow. From there, Harry's on to Albuquerque, NM and Austin, TX.
If you have some old equipment to donate, and live along the trail, check out that web site.
After all - we all need a break from the daily lockdown. Why not help a good cause while you're at it?
Photo note: Two good guys from Seattle Micro stopped by and donated six high-quality laptops.
Good work, Harry!

It will be a year of isolation for me on March 5th.
I spent much of February 2020 in Thailand, Cambodia, and the miscellaneous airports of Asia and Southeast Asia.
I count myself lucky to have spent time in rural Thailand in a smallish town called Krabi. Due to the early response to Covid, it was very un-crowded.
MyTie and I had a chance to feed some elephants, and I waded into the river with them to help wash them. It was humorous, as we hiked into the jungle, that the tourists stopped to take pictures of everything - including a water buffalo. The guide acted as if we were insane. It was a bit like going to the Midwest and stopping to take pictures of a cow.
But the bottom line for me was this: I am grateful that I had some relaxing downtime before heading to Cambodia for some very difficult meetings re: rescuing girls from human trafficking.
All in all it was a great trip. But I didn't go straight home. I landed in San Francisco, flew down to L.A. for the night, then headed to Texas for XChange. That was a great show.
But by the time I landed home on March 5th, every event for the rest of 2020 had been cancelled. Of course no one knew how severe the pandemic would be or how long it would last. Thankfully, the end is in sight.

Question: Would you take a class on social media and modern marketing?
I have outlined a new class based on several mini-classes I've done over the last few years. The topics include:
- YouTube
- LinkedIn
- Facebook
- Twitter
- Blogging
- Podcasting
- Managing graphics across social media
- Automating social media
- Super-charging social media by magnifying the effect of all of these actions
Three notes about such a class: 1) This stuff changes all the time, so I will have to freshen up everything for a new class; 2) This would probably be a 12-15 hour class if I bundled it all together; and 3) Because this stuff gets old fast, students should plan to implement this information as soon as possible.
What do you think? Too much? Should I split it into two, or three, or five classes? Would you pay for such information?
Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Community Roundtable this week: Janet Schijns
|
On the first Thursday of every month, we have a great members-only event: The SBT Roundtable. This month our special guest is Janet Schijns, one of the greatest "channel chiefs" and influencers you'll ever meet.
Of course we'll talk about marketing, sales, and what that looks like for IT professionals in the 2020s.
If you're a member, join us.
Members, don't miss this one. The link is at the top of your Dashboard.

Our weekly meetings have really taken off!
In March of 2020, we started weekly Community meetings - just to catch up with members and see how everyone is doing in the "shutdown."
The meetings have grown since then and have become one of the primary benefits of the Community for many members. They're a great opportunity to seek help, exchange ideas, and help each other grow our businesses.
Members: Please join us every Thursday at 9AM Pacific (Noon Eastern).
First Thursday is the SBT Roundtable. A conversation that's about more than IT. More than business. This is a Zoom webinar format.
All other Thursdays are Zoom meetings and more free-flowing. The Third Thursday includes a few slides and updates. Then we just talk - about whatever YOU need!
-- -- --
Note: The SBT Community Newsletter goes out this Friday. READ IT. We'll have a report from the Ecommerce Working Group. And we're moving the newsletter to the end of the month (final Friday).
And of course the Monthly News video will be out Friday. Keep an eye out for that.
Best place to see all of this is in the What's New section.

I find enjoyment in the little things.
Like this ten pound box that was labeled for "Team Lift" . . . even thought it only weighs ten pounds.
I'm not an athlete, but I can lift any ten pound box - even if one side of it is over two feet in length!
