Queens Tech Fair - Jan. 21


Join Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. for his inaugural Queens Tech Fair. The event includes a job skills assessment from leading artificial intelligence software firm SkyHive, mentoring and networking opportunities, on-site support services, interactive activities, a group discussion on breaking barriers and more.

LIC BID Expansion Virtual Public Meeting - Feb. 9


Come learn about the proposed plan to enhance the streetscape, add supplemental sanitation, and other services and discuss the possible future of the neighborhood. The expansions will help keep the community clean and safe for pedestrians in the area, and ensure that the streets are functional for businesses and their employees. Queensboro Bridge Single Lane Closures - Jan. 23-Feb. 3


The rehabilitation of the Queensboro Bridge will continue with the following weekday, single-lane closures from Monday, January 23th to Friday, February 3rd. The North Outer Roadway carrying pedestrians and bicyclists may be narrowed during off-peak hours for a maximum of fifty feet. The path will always be available; however, pedestrians and bicyclists are advised to use caution. At least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. Details

Queens Curbside Composting Paused for Winter, Drop Off Instead - Through Mar. 27


Weekly Curbside Composting service is paused for winter. Service will resume the week of March 27, 2023. Food scraps and yard waste can be composted at a Smart Composting Bin or food scrap drop-off site near you. Find drop-off composting locations here. Locations in LIC include:

  • 46th Ave. and 5th St.
  • 49-09 5th St. and 49th Ave.
  • Pearson Pl. & Skillman Ave.
  • NW Corner of 21st St. at 41st Ave.

Studio 41


Studio 41 is a vibrant new artist collective in the heart of Long Island City, just off Queens Plaza at 27-15 41st Avenue. A working artist’s studio and a unique exhibition space for a small group of local artists, it is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5, offering a new and intimate way to look at art and meet the artists at work.
