Good News Recap: February 2021
|
|
Dear friends,
We are pressing ahead with full hearts and dedication to the amazing community that we serve. Health and social services are available at all three of our locations in Kennett Square, Oxford, and West Grove, as well as virtual Telehealth visits. We will soon move into our new Oxford location, which is scheduled to open for patients at the beginning of April. We continue to test and vaccinate for COVID-19. There is hope! Let's work together to stay safe, have patience, and be kind as our community navigates this next stage of the pandemic.
In good health,
The LCH Team

Connecting with Families for Virtual Read Alouds
|
Thanks to Title V Funding with PACHC, we have started a series called "Let's Read LCH/Vamos a Leer LCH", where a children's story is read aloud in English and in Spanish by members of the LCH Pediatrics team. Reading is such an important part of early language development. Through the grant, LCH distributes new books to our youngest patients during their visits. Listen to The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, read by Nefta, our Pediatric Medical Interpreter, and Atley, our Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

DVCCC and LCH Community Outreach

In honor of the month of February, a month that puts such a large focus on relationships, staff from the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County ( DVCCC) and LCH shared a question and answer session on healthy relationships through social media. The panel also joined a live Zoom meeting session with Maternal and Child Health Consortium ( MCHC) families. View our full playlist of domestic violence resource videos. Contact Laura to coordinate a presentation.

Behavioral Health Interview with Conexión on Self-Care
|
Abner, LCH Behavioral Health Manager, talks with Univision Conexión Fin de Semana about the importance of self-care during the pandemic in Spanish. The LCH Behavioral Health team provides three levels of care: Integrated Behavioral Health, Outpatient Therapy, and Psychiatric Medication Management. Here are some self-care health tips from LCH during the pandemic and beyond:
- Connect with others. Make it a priority to safely connect with someone you love whether it is over the phone, on a computer screen, through a letter, or in a socially distanced visit.
- Schedule time for you. Think about those enjoyable activities that you used to do. They don’t have to be extravagant or time consuming. Write them down and set time aside throughout the week to create a routine with one of those items on your list.
- Listen to music. Many studies have been conducted on the power of music and its positive impact on our emotional state. Create a playlist of your favorite music and listen to it frequently.

Supporting Medical Research for All
|
We can play a role in health research by representing our communities. Spread the word about the the National Institute of Health’s All of Us Research Program. The free program follows participants over the course of ten years in order to better understand patterns of illness and how the medical profession can better help underrepresented patients. You can be a part of history! Connect with Clark to learn more about the program locally.
