Dos Santos Needs Our Help
Shoe Drive: Don’t throw away those tennis/walking/workout shoes just because the bottoms are a little worn! Give them to AWAC (the Agricultural Workers Advocacy Coalition) to distribute to the workers as they toil in the fields. During the season, workers go through many pairs of shoes and to buy replacements means less money they can send to their families in their home countries. The drive will continue as needed. Here are the details:
  • Men’s shoes, preferably in sizes 6 – 10, that are worn but without holes or tears in the soles or tops. Although 6 – 10 are preferred sizes, we can use other sizes (and women’s shoes)
  • We would welcome new shoes should you be so generous!

Dos Santos Volunteers Needed
#1  Food Pick Up Volunteer – One day each month (approximately 2 hours):
  • Drive to the Food Bank of the Eastern Shore and meet the Dos Santos van there.  Day and time may vary but it is usually Friday at 11:00.
  • Select canned goods and box them up.
  • You may be asked to help load boxes of chicken and cans into the Dos Santos van.
  • Drive to the Dos Santos Center and unload the boxes.

You need to be able to comfortably lift 20-30 lb. boxes.

If you cannot make your shift, it would be your responsibility to check with other volunteers (you would have a list) and see if they can switch a shift with you.

#2 Thrift Store Volunteer
The Dos Santos Thrift store just opened in Onley. We need volunteers for shifts on Wednesday mornings and afternoons, Thursday afternoons, Friday afternoons, and Saturday morning and afternoons. You will be helping customers, sorting donations, and keeping everything looking right... We also invite your donations! (don't forget the costume jewelry you never wear anymore.)
If you can help with either of these positions, please call Betty Mariner at (757) 710-4991.

Dos Santos Food Pantry for Ag Workers: Dos Santos food pantry is currently serving approximately 100 families a week. We are always in need of the following items:
  • Canola oil
  • White rice (2 lb bag)
  • Pinto beans (dry beans - 2 lb bag - preferred, but cans are great too)
  • Masa (the flour used to make tortillas in the Hispanic section – 4 lb bag)
  • Canned Corn
  • Canned Diced Tomatoes
  • Canned green vegetables
  • Small-size pasta shells (7oz bags)
  • Soup cubes (chicken or tomato / Maggi in Hispanic section - 3oz packages)

For the Sick: O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit, and relieve thy sick servants for whom our prayers are desired. Look upon them with the eyes of thy mercy; comfort them with a sense of thy goodness; and preserve them from the temptations of the enemy; and give them patience under their affliction. Enable them to lead the residue of their life in thy fear, and to thy glory; and grant that finally they may dwell with thee in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

For the church. Gracious Father, we pray for thy holy Catholic Church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in any thing it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Savior. Amen.

For Social Justice: Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart [and especially the hearts of the people of this land], that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Spiritual Holy Communion: My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. I love you above all things, and long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my heart. I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Any Prayer List Updates?: We believe in the power of prayer and we have heard from a number of people who have said that it helped. Do you have someone on the prayer list that has recovered to health? Please let us know. And please let Betsy know anytime if you would like to add someone to the list - c.r.vaughan@icloud.com. We would like to be diligent about keeping our list up to date. Thank you and Blessings to all.

Prayer Ministry: If you would like to have prayers offered for a special intention please contact Judy Miles (757) 894 - 5015.
