Did you know that the Gifts and Bequests Committee is a committee of the Idaho

Episcopal Foundation (IEF) and exists entirely to provide education about planned giving opportunities through the Foundation? In addition, the Committee stands ready to help Vestries encourage stewardship, inspire planned giving, and create or help increase a permanent endowment fund. Talk to your parish reps if you would like further information about the assistance that the Gifts and Bequests Committee can provide for you and your congregation. For now, you might like to consider these things:

  • If you are new to Idaho and have Powers of Attorney or Living Wills established in another state, you might want to consider checking with an attorney to see if Idaho has different requirements for such documents.
  • The same would apply to Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment (POST). If you have such a document (and you should have), it is important that any requirements you might have are in sync with Idaho standards. Please discuss this with your physician on your next visit.

Again, please be in touch with your parish representatives if you have any questions or would like further assistance in all things relating to planned giving. If you are unsure who your parish representatives are, feel free to contact the IEF Executive Director, Janet Hasson, at foundation@idahodiocese.org.

The Idaho Episcopal Foundation has been supporting the mission and ministry of The Episcopal Church in Idaho since 1984. Read the captions below to see how your contributions made an impact in 2022!

Paradise Point Sanitation Supplies

The IEF support allowed Paradise Point Camp to operate while maintaining some of the highest standards for COVID-19 related safety in the region.

Preschool Shelving - St. Luke’s,

Idaho Falls

The IEF grant contributed an essential part to a larger project to plant a faith-based Montessori preschool in Idaho Falls. The shelving turned boxes of Godly Play material and curricula into a vision of clean, bright and well-appointed school.

Caring Closet – Holy Nativity, Meridian

Holy Nativity's Caring Closet provides nutritious meals to anyone who drives into the parking lot on the 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the month. As part of the meal program, the IEF grant provided funds to include personal hygiene and household cleaning supplies. We have demonstrated the need and the parish will continue this ministry.

Peace Box Project – Learning Peace Camp & Grace, Nampa

Grace partnered with the Peace Camp organization to create the Peace Camp in a Box Project while the camp could not meet during COVID. 250 boxes were distributed to second and third graders in 2 different school and the Nampa Library. Each box contained crafts and activities that related to the curriculum and were enjoyed by students and teachers.

Hygiene Items – Emmanuel, Placerville

The IEF grant provided hygiene supplies for the Basin School District in Idaho City. Emmanuel Church in Placerville contacted the school counselor and identified the need and she was very grateful for their help. Many of the students could not afford personal hygiene products.

Mental Health Support – Marie Blanchard Friendship Clinic &

All Saints, Boise

The funding from IEF enabled the MBFC, located at All Saints, to assist their patients with mental health counseling that was not accessible to them. A testimonial from a patient: “I was a completely broken person when we met, but after working with my counselor for five months, I feel like a new person now.”

It’s not too early to be thinking about future Foundation Grant projects.

Grants from the Idaho Episcopal Foundation are made for start-up funds for new projects, and for equipment or other one-time purchases related to those projects. Grant requests for on-going operating expenses and repairs to church property will not be supported. Download the Grant Application or learn more on our website. The deadline to apply is September 1, 2023 for the next 2023 grant cycle. Learn more about our most recent grant recipients.
