Hazardous Household Waste Drop Off Event Next Wednesday
Drop off your household hazardous waste at the next FREE collection event at the Lake Travis Regional Re-Use and Recycling Center from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. The center is located at 3207 Neidhardt Drive, just off General Williamson Drive behind Lake Travis Fire Rescue Station 601. This is one of four free events scheduled this year. Some acceptable items include: polishers; degreasers; anti-freeze; and aerosol cans. The collection event is open to residential utility customers. In order to drop off items, a resident must present a valid driver’s license or utility bill with an address in the jurisdictional boundaries of one of the following: the cities of Lakeway or Bee Cave; Village of The Hills; Hurst Creek Municipal Utility District; Lakeway MUD; or Travis County Water Control and Improvement District (WCID) No. 17. Teen Court Provides an Alternative for Juvenile Defendants
Teen Court is a  problem-solving court  within the  juvenile justice system  where teens charged with certain types of offenses can be sentenced by a jury of same-aged peers. The purpose of this program is to provide an alternative to formal court for  juveniles  who have committed a  delinquent  act, have committed a  minor offense or have been charged with a  misdemeanor. The Lakeway Municipal Court is partnering with The Austin Municipal Court to provide this alternative for young defendants in the area. Teen Court will be held at Austin City Hall (301 W 2nd Street, Austin, TX 78701) the second Thursday of every month, excluding holidays, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

NEW: TxDOT Hosting Open House on RM 620 Widening Project

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is holding an open house and public hearing to discuss improvements to RM 620 south, between SH 71 and Hudson Bend Road in Travis County, Texas. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment and its recommended Build Alternative for improving RM 620. The Open House will start at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Lake Travis High School Cafeteria located at 3324 Rand Road 620 South.
