Dear Friends of Maharishi School,
Maharishi School just began it's big fall fundraiser — a kindness-focused campaign called Raise Craze. Through mid-October, students will be sending emails to friends and family, and will show their appreciation to donors by completing Acts of Kindness for others. At the end of the campaign, they hope to complete over 1,000 Acts of Kindness and raise over $20,000!
Your contribution to this campaign would be greatly appreciated. To donate, CLICK HERE.
The school will use the funds:
- to provide student scholarships,
- to increase teacher support,
- and to purchase materials to acquire SEL (social/emotional learning) curriculum materials.
Students will be doing everything from picking up their neighbor’s trash, to sending thank-you notes to our local fire and police departments, to partnering with funds2orgs.com to collect gently worn, used, and new shoes in a creative shoe drive fundraiser.
We picked Raise Craze in an effort to get more of our students involved, while teaching the value of gratitude and paying it forward in the community. We believe that this will help shape the character of our students, and will also allow everyone, regardless of their ability to raise money, to participate.
We'd love your support in our quest to make Maharishi School even better!

Take Your Experience to the Next Level with an Advanced Technique
of the TM Program
|
|
Saturday Sept. 25th at the Maharishi Peace Palace
|
“The purpose of Advanced Techniques is to take the experience to another, higher level. Advanced Techniques are like fertilizers; fertilizers bring better fruit to every tree. To enjoy greater achievement and fulfillment in life, take advantage of this beautiful program of Advanced Techniques to enrich the development of higher states of consciousness.” —TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Q: What are Advanced Techniques?
A: Like the TM technique, Advanced Techniques are easily-practiced mental techniques that accelerate personal growth. During TM, we experience a fourth state of consciousness, a state of restful alertness that dissolves stress, enhances brain functioning, and balances the body and emotions. Advanced Techniques speed up the integration of this state with our regular daily activity, bringing faster results from our TM practice.
Q: How many are there?
A: There are four Advanced Techniques brought to light by Maharishi in his Vedic Science and Technology, the Science and Technology of Consciousness. The first is practiced for a few minutes before going to sleep. The second, third, and fourth Advanced Techniques are effortlessly incorporated into your twice-daily TM practice.
Q: Do I learn them all at once or one at a time?
A: One at a time and in sequence. You’ll practice an Advanced Technique at least two to four months before adding the next one.
Q: Who teaches the Advanced Techniques?
A: Specially trained, highly experienced certified TM teacher Mario Orsatti has been teaching the TM technique since 1973 and the Advanced Technique courses for the last 4 years. He is the Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness at the David Lynch Foundation, where he oversees TM programs for government and military leaders in Washington, D.C., and for business executives in New York City. He will be present at each session for instruction and verification.
Q: Who can learn, and how do I know if I’m ready?
A: You must have practiced TM regularly, twice a day, for a minimum of the last two months to be eligible to apply for an Advanced Technique. Each technique is simple—easy to learn, easy to practice—and, best of all, enjoyable! That said, if you’d like our advice regarding your personal readiness, just give us a call.
Q: What is the course structure?
A: The course consists of three sessions:
- First, an orientation meeting (1½ hours)
- Second, personal instruction in the appropriate Advanced Technique (2–3 hours)
- Third, a checking meeting the following day to answer questions and verify the correctness of your practice (2 hours)
Orientation: An orientation meeting is an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Techniques. It is free, and there is no obligation to take the course. But if you want to learn an Advanced Technique at this time, you must attend the orientation meeting and then fill out an application form. Here is the schedule of orientation meetings:
Friday, Sept. 24th, 2PM
Personal Instruction: Saturday Sept. 25th
Checking Meeting: Sunday Sept. 26th 9:30am & 11am
|

|
Starts Sat., Sept. 25, at 11:00 am CDT

Daily routine for better health
Maharishi AyurVeda® is the modern scientific revival of Ayurveda—the traditional health system of India. At MIU, you can study online to earn a BA or MS in Ayurveda, or an MS in Aromatherapy and Ayurveda.
|
|
One of the highlights of Maharishi AyurVeda is establishing a good daily and seasonal routine. Daily routines keep the principles governing your physiology—known as doshas in Ayurveda—in sync with the cycles of the day. The seasonal routine, on the other hand, keeps the doshas in sync with the changing seasons. One tool to keep up with seasonal change is essential oils.
Essential oils for the fall season
Essential oils have been used for therapeutic purposes for centuries. They are simple to obtain, use, keep, and carry. Maharishi Holistic Aromatherapy suggests particular essential oils based on their therapeutic effects on the doshas. This makes it easy to use specific oils for the season.
The ideal essential oils for fall would be balsam fir and bergamot. Additional essential oils can be customized to meet any special needs. For example, someone with fall allergies could use one of the eucalyptus varieties, whereas someone dreading the arrival of winter could use citrus oils.
Anyone can easily apply essential oils by mixing them with a dosha-specific carrier oil and placing a few drops on the wrists and the back of the neck—the same way that you would use a perfume. For more specific uses, we recommend an aromatherapy consultation.
Earn a degree in aromatherapy
At MIU, we offer an Online MS in Aromatherapy and Ayurveda that prepares you to become an aromatherapy practitioner and an Ayurveda wellness consultant. This program is approved by the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA).

Meditation is Penelope Cruz's escape
Spanish actress Penelope Cruz uses transcendental meditation forget the stresses and struggles in her life.
5 September 2021
|
|
The Oscar-winning actress - who has two children, 10-year-old son Leo and eight-year-old daughter Luna, with her actor husband Javier Bardem - first experimented with meditation when she was a teenager but she started taking the practice seriously to decompress from her film sets and to ease any worries she may have.
She said: "I practiced meditation as a teenager, I stopped for a while, then I took the transcendental meditation courses and I chose to dedicate myself to it."

How Joe Namath uses pandemic as opportunity to focus on most important things in life
|
|
Namath was introduced to transcendental meditation by Bob Oates Jr., who served as the co-author to his book, "A Matter of Style." Transcendental meditation is a silent, mantra-based style of meditation that is believed to enhance awareness and reduce stress.
"Bob told me about it one year when he was visiting me at training camp," Namath said. "I thought it was kind of a spiritual thing at first, and I told him how I was raised, how I had a God and I spoke with him every day. He told me it doesn't have to be tied into religion.
"I gave it a try and immediately loved it. To this day, I use my mantra daily."
