Congratulations to Rising Star Laura Mack,
Vermont Business Magazine (VBM) recently recognized Laura Mack as a Rising Star in their Top 40 Under 40, Class of 2021.

Over the past 11 years, VBM has recognized up and coming individuals from the scores of nominees submitted. Honored at the awards ceremony last week in Burlington, Rising Star bios will be included in the November issue of VBM's magazine.

Award recipients were selected by a panel of judges for their commitment to business growth, professional excellence and involvement in their communities. In our opinion, the judges hit the trifecta with Laura!

Vergennes Animal Hospital Named
BUSINESS of the YEAR
Congratulations to Vergennes Animal Hospital (VAH) - recently named Business of the Year by the Addison County Chamber of Commerce. At the Chamber's 2021 Annual Meeting last week, Dr. Mark Basol was presented the Business of the Year award by his friend and neighbor up the street - Kennedy Brothers owner, Robert Feuerstein*.

A mainstay in the Little City, VAH has been serving Addison County and beyond since 1940. Originally operating up the street in a house at 34 Main, the mixed animal practice expanded in 1994 to better serve the needs of its small animal clientele.

Dr. Basol came to the practice in 1987, joining Dr. Joe Klopfenstein as a partner. As the demand for specialty veterinary services grew, the business was split into two entities in 2005 with Dr. Basol taking over the VAH name and operating the small animal practice as it is today.

Dr. Greg Carlton joined VAH in 2013 and has since become a partner in the practice. In addition to Drs. Basol and Carlton, 3 full-time associate veterinarians – Drs. Rebecca Sevy, Carrie Olsen and Roberta Hemmer are employed as well. A steady increase in pet ownership throughout the years has led to increased employment opportunities for professional, administration and technical staff. The practice has grown from a staff of 8 in 1994 to now employing 18 people - 5 of which were added just this year.

Vergennes Animal Hospital is a strong advocate for the Addison County Chamber of Commerce as well as the Vergennes Partnership, the Bixby Memorial Free Library and the Vergennes Opera House.

*Feuerstein and his spouse, Lillian Kennedy received the ACCC Business of the Year award in 2017.
