2021 Sharing the Light of Christ
Thanks to those of you who have turned in your 2021 Estimate of Giving form and Talent/Volunteer list. We have already received commitments of $186,100 towards our goal of $300,000! You can make a difference in the life of First United and its ministries by your financial commitment to share the light of Christ during 2021.
If you haven't already, please drop your Estimate of Giving form and Talent/Volunteer list in the mail today! You can also drop them off at the church office Monday through Thursday between 9am and 2pm. We are blessed to have so many members and friends who support our congregation financially. Thank you!
If you'd like to begin "online giving" to our church or to explore the possibility, click here for a link to a special page on our website for much more information. It can offer you a modern, convenient, and safe way to give!

Congregational Prayer List
As Christians, we believe in the power of prayer. Are you in need of prayer for yourself or someone you know? When we pray as a church, we strengthen each other and those for whom we pray.
If you have a joy or concern you would like to share, please contact the church office by calling 920-336-1446 or emailing it to info@firstunited.org. Prayer requests will be shared in a weekly Joys and Concerns email on Mondays as well as included in the Prayers for the People during Sunday’s service. Please be sure to contact us so your church family can lift you and your loved ones up in prayer!
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - 1 Thessalonian 5:16-18

Sunday Worship Update
This Sunday we will be taking a look at Jesus’ response to the Pharisees question of which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses as we study Matthew 22:34-46. When we truly love God and our neighbor, it allows us to naturally keep the commandments. Instead of focusing on what not to do, we are free to concentrate on all we can do to show our love for God and others.
How to Join Us for Worship
> In Person - Join us Sunday morning at 9:45 in the Sanctuary. For those who feel comfortable in person, we thank you for adhering to our safety protocols so we can continue to worship safely. Please wear a mask, enter through the Webster doors, use the provided sanitizer, and sit where an usher directs you. It's a blessing to socialize and fellowship with one another outside after the service.
> Live Online - You can also join us for a live stream of our service Sunday morning at 9:45 on our church Facebook page.
> Sound-only connection - You can listen by phone by calling Zoom at (312)-626-6799 around 9:35am. Enter meeting ID: 206 385 039 followed by #. You will then "enter the meeting." There's no need to enter a passcode anymore. We apologize to those who weren't able to hear last Sunday. Technology sometimes has a mind of it's own. We ask that you let the church office know if you're having trouble. We won't know unless you tell us.
> Watch Service recordings anytime - If it's more convenient, you can always watch recordings of our worship service on our Facebook page (shortly after the live stream is completed) or our website (anytime after 11:30am Sunday mornings)

Special Gathering Last Sunday
Our Worship & Music Ministry hosted a special Guided Meditation Gathering last Sunday evening outside near the garden. The evening began with a devotional and the gentle sound of a "singing bowl." Participants focused on the brisk fall air and the candlelight while turning their minds inward to find God’s presence and a special sense of calm and compassion. Thanks to Alice Wood and Anne Motquin for planning and leading the unique, peaceful night.

Discussing Mere Christianity
This Sunday at 8:30am, our Adult Zoom Sunday School class will be looking at the ineffable mystery of the Trinity; God in Three Persons. They will discuss how C.S. Lewis’ understanding of the Trinity can shed new light on the way we not only perceive God, but how we see one another. We look forward to seeing you Sunday morning! Here's how you can join the class:

Come and support one another during this monthly time of sharing, prayer, and reflection. Wednesday Night ZOOM Check In
We would love to have more members join us on Wednesday evenings at 7pm for a time of fellowship. Especially as it gets colder and darker earlier, this is a perfect way to see and talk to your church family. There is no set “agenda,” and conversation changes from week to week based on who joins in. Why not give it a try?

We wanted to make everyone aware of a couple of event changes. First, in case you haven't already heard, our Men's Club has reluctantly decided to cancel this year's Fruitcake Sale due to safety concerns. Also, after discussions with leadership of both churches, it's been decided not to hold our joint Thanksgiving worship service with First Presbyterian of Green Bay this year. Please watch our communications for all the latest on plans and changes.
