Fall 2014
The Donaldson Group Partners with RTMC to Honor Veterans

Twenty-five million veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces have put their lives on the line to defend our country and protect our freedoms. On October 18, 2014 The Donaldson Group's employees committed their time to serve Mr. Prather, a very special veteran who has lived as a productive member of his Poolsville community for the last 89 years. Working from dawn to dusk, more than ten volunteers invested their time to improve the living conditions in and around Mr. Prather's home.

They completed the following projects to make it a safer and healthier environment for him and his family:

*Replaced a dilapidated basement portico with a new commercial-grade awning for improved safety;

*Updated exterior hand-railing and light fixtures for better mobility;

*Rebuilt basement retaining wall to prevent moisture damage;

*Primed and painted cinder-block foundation around entire house, replaced and painted rotted boards on exterior of home, improved landscaping and installed a new American flag to beautify the home.

RTMC would like to thank The Donaldson Group for their commitment to our neighbors in need. We also look forward to working with Congressional Bank on November 11 for their 2nd annual Veteran's Day project.

Thank You for Making the 2014 Golf Tournament A Success

Held on October 6, 2014, the RTMC Golf Classic brought together golfers and socially responsible businesses to take a swing at helping low-income homeowners live in safe and healthy homes. This year's event raised more than $63,000.00 to support RTMC's mission.

In addition to the generous investments made by our sponsors and golfers, The Advisory Board Company and Monument Bank (long-time supporters and tournament presenting sponsors) supplied volunteers that brought great energy and committed hands to make  this year's golf tournament a huge success. Because of our supporters' help with this year's event:

*RTMC generated a 21% increase in revenue over the 2013 tournament receipts;

*RTMC's earned revenue of approximately $63,000.00 was the highest revenue number since 2011;

*RTMC engaged seven new companies as foursome sponsors or par sponsors; and

*RTMC entertained 112 registered golfers on the greens.

Many thanks to all of our supporters, golfers, and sponsors. Because of you, we're able to more effectively invest in our neighbors and communities in need. We look forward to another effective year of preserving affordable housing, protecting our client's greatest asset, and providing safe and healthy living conditions across Montgomery County.  Read more about the tournament here.

  • Calling all retirees, students and supporters with flexible schedules: We'd like volunteers to support our expanding programs and outreach by providing office support (e.g., drafting external communications, performing data entry, and preparing homeowner packets).  If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering with us in this capacity, please contact Christina Johnson at cjohnson@rebuildingtogethermc.org today.

Partnership Improves Local Housing Complex

On September 11, 2014, RTMC worked in partnership with Choice Hotels International and the Foulger-Pratt Companies to support its up-county neighbors through a special Room to Rebuild project.

Associates from the lodging company worked side by side with construction company employees and RTMC staff to make significant improvements to the common areas of the Montgomery Housing Partnership's affordable housing complex on North Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg.

Together, we transformed three large areas of empty space into a beautiful community garden, a wonderful playground, and a picnic area that the children and families living in the complex can enjoy for years to come. Read More
