Calling All Room Parents...
Hope you enjoyed a wonderful summer break! Now that school is back in session, please consider volunteering to be a room parent. Being a room parent is a fantastic way to get to know your child's teacher, classmates, and other parents. It is one of the best volunteer opportunities at South School and is a valuable way to contribute! Some responsibilities include building community within your class and coordinating teacher appreciation and end of year gifts. One highlight has been coordinating and running class parties. At this time, volunteers are unable to enter school, which will mean creatively rethinking how we celebrate. The goal is to have co-room parents for each class - one for each cohort if applicable. You may volunteer for more than one class.
Afraid to take on the role because you have never been a room parent before or due to this year’s uncertainty? Fear not! There will be a virtual Room Parent Meeting later this month (date TBA) to review the role of room parents, answer any/all questions and provide suggestions. No one will go this alone!
Still debating? Feel free to email me at lauraveligor@gmail.com. I am happy to answer questions and discuss responsibilities in more detail.
