Councilmembers voted unanimously to approve the balanced $15.1 million fiscal year 2020 budget and tax rate of 0.1645, which is the same tax rate as 2018. The average home value in 2019 is $550,296, which would mean the average property tax bill under the approved tax rate will be approximately $905 per home. The average homeowner will pay about $37 per year more under the same tax rate due to an increase in Lakeway home values from the 2018 average of $527,427. The total City of Lakeway portion of the property tax bill for residents in Lakeway makes up just about 7% of the total amount homeowners pay on a yearly basis.

Residents came out to support Lakeway police officers and strengthen bonds with neighbors on Tuesday, October 1, during National Night Out. It was a great turnout from the community with around three dozen neighborhood events in the area. Lots of food was enjoyed and great conversations were had throughout the evening. Knowing your neighbors, surroundings and first responders helps to build a safer community. Thank you to the volunteers who helped put this important event together! We truly appreciate the great support from our residents and look forward to next year's National Night Out.

Over the last few weeks, The City of Lakeway has welcomed more wonderful pieces into its permanent art collection. "The Game," a cast bronze sculpture by artist Robert Holmes was generously donated by John and Judy Hogge and is now located at the Municipal Court (104 Cross Creek) under the shade of a beautiful oak tree near the front of the building. Stop by to admire these larger than life figures as they seem to concentrate on a close game of chess.

Three kinetic sculptures by Jim La Paso titled "Butterfly,""Wings" and "Daisy" were added to a small strip of land off of Lakeway Boulevard called Lakeway Park 1. These whimsical sculptures add a touch of color and interest to the area for all visitors and residents to enjoy.

The Lakeway Arts Committee continues to add beauty and put on special events throughout the city. To support this effort, please consider attending an Arts Committee meeting held the last Monday of every month at City Hall (1102 Lohmans Crossing).
