If you want to beat the weather this weekend, Garces Memorial has two girls wrestlers at the CIF State Championships at Mechanics Bank Arena. Senior Kaydence Boyd set a school high mark, advancing to the 126-pound quarterfinals, becoming the first state quarterfinalist in school history.
Let’s check in on wrestling and the spring sports that were in action this week. NOTE: Softball, boys tennis, and swim and dive did not compete this week.
Girls Wrestling
After becoming the first Garces Memorial wrestler to win a Central Section Masters title last Saturday at Morro Bay, senior Kaydence Boyd made program history once again as the first quarterfinalists at the state championships. A win for Boyd in the quarterfinals would put her in the semifinals on Saturday morning and a shot at the finals on Saturday night.
