STUDENT ART
Students in Digital Photography created a layflat narrative to express their "quarantine self-portrait”. Photos (below, left to right) by Kaylin Murphy `21, Jayne Johnson '22 and Bridget Bjorke `22.
Pottery and Sculpture students made Origami, traditional Japanese style paper sculptures. Featured work (below left, clockwise) by Norah Parks `24, Joe O'Connor `21, Makana Brouns-Prince `24, Lila Kopp `24. AP Art and Design student Jaden Mansfield `21 created three pieces (below, right) dealing with secret confessions; two are true but one is a lie.
THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
Join us this Saturday, November 14 at 7 p.m for our annual celebration of the performing arts, Spotlight Cabaret!

Though we cannot gather this year in person, our fabulous students will dazzle you with high-energy, high-caliber performances that you and your entire household will enjoy via recorded broadcast. In addition to the amazing student performances, we will also announce our spring musical!

This year more than ever, our students need your support. The arts provide an essential platform for students to find mutual support and a safe place to express themselves. Your generosity ensures we can continue to serve our student performers in these challenging times. The link to Spotlight Cabaret will be emailed to Patrons, and shared via the BBHS website and social media platforms. Please show your support and become a Performing Arts Patron today!

SUICIDE PREVENTION TRAINING FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
The BBHS Forefront Suicide Prevention Team invites you to join us for an important evening of learning, discussion, and reflection on Thursday, December 3 from 7-8:30 p.m.

Developed by Forefront Suicide Prevention at the University of Washington, the LEARN Saves Lives training will outline simple and effective steps to help others move in the direction of hope, recovery, and survival. These steps play an important role in helping us recognize when peers, friends, and family might be having thoughts of suicide, and to know how and where to refer those individuals to keep them safe.

To register, please fill out this form. We will follow up a few days before the event with the Zoom information.

FREE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT FOR BIPOC YOUTH AND ADULTS
On November 14 and December 12, the NAACP together with Disability WA and other community partners are hosting a virtual community-based Mental Health Day to offer support for BIPOC youth and adults. This free resource is for community members who have been historically marginalized, especially people from the Black community in King County and communities most impacted by COVID-19 and police violence. CALM PARENTING IN TIMES OF CRISIS - NOVEMBER 18
The current spiraling global health crisis has the power to wreak havoc on our mental health, strain our family relationships and completely undermine our “normal” parenting strategies. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In times when something outside of our control happens, it’s what we do as parents with what we can control that really shapes our children into cool, kind kids with character.

Please join us as the BBHS Parent Association hosts clinical psychologist and best-selling author Dr. Laura Kastner on November 18 at 7 p.m. Register here for "Calm Parenting in Times of Crisis" webinar, which will focus on the factors and habits that will make our family bonds stronger.

We will have time for a Q&A with Dr. Kastner after her presentation. If you have a question you would like answered, please complete this form. Keep Calm and Parent On!
