Police Officers Memorial Day
Today (Friday, May 15) is Peace (Police) Officers Memorial Day, which brings Police Week to a close. We commend the brave men and women of our law enforcement for continually summoning the courage to fulfill their solemn oath to protect and serve. We also take pause to remember all those who have lost their lives defending their communities and rule of law. Since Police Week 2019, more than 30 Texas police officers have bene killed, or passed away due to COVID-19 related illnesses. In an email to Lakeway officers earlier this week, Chief Todd Radford wrote, "I want to acknowledge each of you --- telecommunicators, administrative personnel and officers --- who stand the blue line every day, in every way, to ensure that justice and peace are ever present." We are proud to have an amazing group of officers at the Lakeway Police Department who work hard to keep our community safe. Thank you for all that you do, especially now during this unusual time. We truly appreciate you!

NEW: Drive With Caution As Fawn Season Begins

It's the beginning of fawn season for the deer population. Please be careful on our area roadways, and keep your eyes peeled for deer on the side of the roads. They can often cross streets quickly without much notice, especially now with lighter traffic due to COVID-19. Additionally, it is illegal to feed the deer in Lakeway. Deer corn and other items provided by humans are often unhealthy substitutes for their normal meals, and feeding the animals can lead to congregation, causing an increase in traffic accidents. Click here for more information about our deer population, including details on deer resistant plants.
