Topic: Circle Dr. Bridge Replacement Project

Due to the Colorado Safer-At-Home Order, the ASCE Southern Colorado (SoCo) Branch is going virtual! Please join us for a live webinar on Thursday, October 8, 2020. This Webinar is free for all! We would love to see you at this event.

Ms. Tammy Heffron with HDR will present the overview of the bridge replacement project on Circle Drive over Fountain Creek and railroad in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Circle Drive Bridges, two sets of twin structures originally built in 1963 by the Colorado Department of Highways, span across Fountain Creek, the BNSF railroad, the FMIC (Irrigation), Las Vegas Street, Hancock Expressway, Pikes Peak Greenway Trail and a proposed multi-use path between Las Vegas Street and the Creek. Now, after more than 55 years of use, the bridges have exceeded their lifespan and will be replaced by the City of Colorado Springs. Tammy C. Heffron, PE, with HDR will present to the ASCE SoCo Branch membership about the history of the project and the progress of design.

Colorado Resiliency Framework Update Survey

The Department of Local Affairs Colorado Resiliency Office is leading an update to the Colorado Resiliency Framework (CRF) in 2020. Follow this link to take the individual survey on what matters most to you as part of our state's resiliency framework!

This is an opportunity for our state to come together to craft solutions that explore emerging risks and vulnerabilities facing Colorado as well as to develop actionable and high-impact strategies to be accomplished in the next 5-year cycle of the CRF.
RetoolCOS Land Use Policy Update - Module 1

In the wake of the successful adoption of PlanCOS in early 2019, Colorado Springs is moving forward with an update of its outdated zoning and subdivision ordinance, a regulatory document that establishes standards for how property is used and developed and procedures for the review of development applications.

Last comprehensively updated in the 1990s and frequently amended since then, the ordinance is difficult to use and has outdated standards that make it difficult for the City to achieve the vision established in PlanCOS. Our transportation and infrastructure systems connect land uses together, and this ordinance is an important piece of policy that affects where we live, work, and play, as well as how we get there!

After looking over the Module 1 background and materials, please send any comments you might have to retoolcos@coloradosprings.gov.
