Dear Roslyn Families,
Please be advised that a student at Roslyn High School has tested positive for COVID-19. This student has not been in the building since Friday, November 6, 2020. Our internal contact tracing has been completed and anyone considered a possible close contact has been notified. It has been determined that a school closure is not warranted at this time. As always, our staff conducted a thorough cleaning of the school over the weekend.
Consequently, the Nassau County Department of Health is in the process of conducting a search for anyone who may have had contact with this individual outside of school grounds. They will notify you directly if it is determined that your child has had close contact with this positive case.
According to the guidelines from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the Nassau County Health Department, the individual who tested positive for COVID-19 will not be allowed to return to school for ten days. In addition, all close contacts identified will be required to quarantine for 14 days as per the guidelines from the NYSDOH and the Nassau County Health Department.
I want to remind you that the district's multi-layered approach-middle school and high school functioning at half capacity, use of masks, desk shields, washing/sanitizing hands, practicing social distancing, and cleaning high touch point areas-gives us great confidence that the likelihood of any spread was mitigated. With COVID-19 cases on the rise, we will continue to enforce these practices inside our school and implore you to be careful outside of school so that we may continue to offer in-person learning.
