A Message from the CVCA Administration
Calendar Adjustments
Dear Parents,

We are so grateful to start our 6th calendar week of in-person (and distance learning) work toward our mission of Educating and Cultivating Servants for Christ. God continues to be amazingly faithful! As we look back on what we have experienced and learned over these first five weeks, we are making a few calendar adjustments going forward by introducing some additional long weekends to better maintain missional sustainability. Thank you for your flexibility as we make these adjustments informed by real-time data with the big picture and entire year in mind.

Calendar Adjustments
  • No School (Professional Development Days): September 28-29, February 1, March 1, April 26
  • October 14: Standardized testing half-day for grades 8 through 12. Grades 8-11 will take the PSAT and Grade 12 will take the SAT. No School for Grades 6 and 7.
  • Any inclement weather days that might normally result in a day off from school will instead result in an online day of school for all students. Faculty will adjust expectations appropriately for these modified on-line learning days.

Note About Homecoming: Modified Homecoming activities are being tentatively planned for the month of October. Please be patient as we continue to work through details with the Summit County Board Of Health. More details will follow.

A full revised calendar available is HERE. As always this year, we thank you for your understanding that all dates remain tentative based on current and future uncertainties and fluidity.

Rationale
In striving to know, love, and teach your students, our incredible faculty has risen to the challenge of delivering in-person and distance learning in a 90-minute block while diligently executing all of the COVID-19 safety protocols. We are making calendar changes now for three reasons:

  • In these tumultuous and ever-changing times, we feel the need to add a few more Staff Development Days throughout the year to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Frankly, we sense the need from students, families, and faculty for some regular times of respite – time to take a breath from our quickened pace in a COVID-19 protocol world.
  • While we are cleaning nightly at a heightened level compared to prior years based on COVID-19 protocols, scattered long weekends will also allow us to perform deeper cleaning at regular intervals without students in the building for an extended time.

In short, we believe these calendar adjustments will give us the best opportunity for sustained missional impact at the highest level for the longest amount of time, allowing for what we believe to be the most healthy and productive environment for the whole community throughout the school year.

We praise the Lord for His provision through the start of this school year, and we can’t thank you enough for the role you continue to play in complying with all of the protocols to truly embody CVCA Together. To date, we have had two positive cases in our entire student body since August 12. That is evidence that we can do this if we continue to stay the course and remain faithful to the protocols in place. Thank you for your continued diligence in this area in order to create a safe school environment.

In Christ,
CVCA Administration
