We had a guest speaker in our Lower School Chapel last week! Andrew Haylett, Weddington UMC's Middle School Youth Minister, spoke to our Lower School about the importance of having a firm foundation in Christ.

Parent Only Meeting for Rising 6th, 7th & 8th graders

Tuesday, November 9th at 7:30 am - MPR

We are hosting a meeting on Tuesday, November 9th at 7:30 am in the MPR for all parents of rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders (aka current 5th, 6th, 7th graders). We will discuss our continued commitment to these grades and share some of the sports and activities we will offer in the 2022-23 school year. Our Upper School and Lower School teachers will be available in their rooms to receive students whose parents attend this meeting. Parents my bring siblings as well to go to their classrooms. Please note that it is NOT for current 8th-grade parents since we will celebrate your child's graduation this Spring. This meeting is also NOT for rising 5th graders (aka current 4th graders); we will have another meeting later this school year to address your child's exciting transition to Upper School.

Guest Speakers in Chapel on Wednesday, November 10th.

We are looking forward to a very special Chapel the day before Veterans Day. Our PTF has arranged to have two Veterans visit our school. Lt. Burton Zill, of the Waxhaw Police Department and retired US Army, will lead our Upper School Chapel. Captain Bobby Haulk, of the Waxhaw Police Department and retired US Army, will lead our Lower School and JrK/K Chapels.

Veterans Day is Thursday, November 11th.

Please wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE to school on this special day. All classes will spend time talking about Veterans Day and learning from our school display. Thank you for sending in your Veteran/Service Person Interview sheets for the display. This is a wonderful learning opprotunity. We will also enjoy a special lunch menu: Navy Sub Sandwiches, G.I. Grapes, Marine Munchies, and Air Force Apple Pie.

Nov 18 - Last Day to Return Operation Christmas Child Boxes

WCA’s Week of Giving is Coming!

November 15th-19th will be a week filled with gratitude. Each day will be filled with Thanksgiving fun, including a daily spirit wear theme and gratitude activity. On Wednesday, students are invited to bring a donation of 1 or more canned item to present to our guest speaker in Chapel from the Union County Community Center.

In the spirit of gratitude, we are asking parents and friends to help sustain our mission by making a gift this week to the WCA Hawk Fund (formerly the Invest in A Child Campaign). This annual campaign has helped support the school’s operating expenses each year, and has always played a vital role in ensuring the school’s stability and sustainability.

WCA'S Family Thanksgiving Family Picnic

on Friday, November 19th from 10:00-12:30pm

Parents and grandparents are invited to celebrate and give thanks with us! Bring camp chairs or a blanket for your family and come to the backfield. Our program will include a message from the PTF and a special performance by the children. We will then enjoy our pre-ordered Thanksgiving bag lunch. Or, if you did not get a chance to pre-order lunch, you are welcome to pack a picnic lunch. Then stick around for some fun fall activities! If you are unable to attend, your child will remain with their teacher until early dismissal at 12:30 pm.

Pop Tob Tabs for Ronald McDonald House

Please save your pop tabs from canned drinks and bring them to school! We are collecting them for the Ronald McDonald House.

Winter STEAM Day

Thursday, December 16th

All is Calm...All is Bright. Our Winter STEAM Day will be a day of reflection and remembering the night Jesus was born. Could it be that we will even hear the soft flutter of angels’ wings?

Mark your calendars! To celebrate STEAM Day at 1:30pm the PTF has arranged for a food truck to serve our kids hot chocolate! Parents are welcome to join us and purchase a warm beverage from the truck as well. We will also have Christmas cookies!
