Ramadan… A Path For Self-Purification

Ramadan provides us with a golden opportunity to reinforce one’s faith in Allah swt through the process of self-purification as it helps us in many areas of our social and spiritual life. This is the month of patience and perseverance. This is also the month of mutual love, sympathy, mercy and forgiveness.

Although the definition of Seyam indicates abstaining from food & drink, the tongue, eyes, ears and even heart are equally obligated to be restrained if we strive to gain the ultimate rewards of Seyam. This is why the Prophet saaw has been reported as saying in a hadith by Abu Hurairah:

“He who does not desist from obscene language and acting obscenely (during the period of fasting), Allah has no need that he did not eat or drink.” (Bukhari Muslim)

The practice of the concept of neighborhood and charity are equally important. The Prophet saaw had said, “One should behave decently with the whole of humanity and foremost among them is your neighbor. “

On charity, it is said that if one gives a dollar during the month of Ramadan, he will get 70 times more blessings in return. This is a great motivation for all of us to compete in participating in charity to help others in need.

One of the greatest advantages of fasting Ramadan is exhibiting the habit of speaking the truth. As the Prophet saaw said “one who does not give up lying and associating partners with Allah, Allah is in no need of his giving up food and drink”.

May Allah swt bestow His favors & blessing upon us in this Holy month. We pay that we will continue our perseverance & spiritual momentum to always show our gratitude and thankfulness to Allah swt for all His blessings… Ameen

“ Make this Ramadan the turning point in your life. Break free from the deception of this world and indulge into the sweetness of Iman.”
