Campus Reopening Update # 6 - Quarantine Requirements for Albany and Vermont
To ACPHS Community,

We continue to closely monitor the travel advisories with quarantine restrictions that impact our incoming students. Below are the quarantine requirements for both our Albany and Vermont campuses.

Albany Campus

New York State's COVID-19 travel advisory requires people entering New York from locations with high infection rates to be quarantined.

The quarantine period is 14 days except for essential workers and health sciences students who are expected to get tested within 24 hours of arrival, quarantine for 7 days, and then get retested on day 7.

For students returning to the Albany campus from the list of restricted states, Puerto Rico, and from other countries consistent with CDC's quarantine guidance, we are offering students two options:

1. Take classes remotely until they are not required to quarantine upon arrival to New York State; or

2. Quarantine on campus or in nearby designated hotels paid for by the College for 7 days.

All students arriving to the Albany campus from areas with quarantine restrictions must be tested within 24 hours of arrival, quarantine for 7 days, and get retested on day 7. Students can get this testing done on campus in the carport of the O'Brien building. We will provide more information on our on campus testing soon.

All First Year students who must quarantine upon arrival will be quarantined on campus in South Hall. Returning residential students can either quarantine with friends or family who reside in New York State or in a nearby designated hotel paid for by the College. Commuter students can quarantine at home or in their off campus residence.

Students choosing to quarantine on campus or in a nearby designated hotel will be required to purchase a temporary meal plan and will receive meals dropped off by the College. These students' accounts will be charged for this temporary meal plan. Quarantined students will also have routine check-ins from staff via Zoom to coordinate dining options and ensure ongoing contact with the student's triangle of success, which includes their Program Director, Faculty Advisor and Class Advisor.

All students required to quarantine may begin the fall semester remotely.

If students need to arrive to campus early, they may email [email protected]. A coordinator assigned to help with quarantine related issues will assist these students.

Vermont Campus

Students returning to our Vermont campus, including those from Canada, are required to abide by the following quarantine restrictions included in Vermont's Mandatory Guidance for College and University Campus Learning.

Here are the three distinctions Vermont makes on types of traveler arriving to Vermont and the respective quarantine restriction:

Students traveling to campus in a private vehicle without making a prolonged stop (including avoiding gatherings such as restaurants, limiting gas stops, if overnight travel is required) must quarantine at home for 14 days immediately prior to traveling to Vermont. These students may complete a shorter quarantine at home if they receive a negative COVID-19 test after day 7 and travel directly to Vermont without breaking the quarantine.

Students traveling to Vermont with people from multiple households, via bus, rail or commercial airlines, must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival to Vermont. After day 7 of the quarantine, these students may get a COVID-19 test and upon receiving a negative result, end their quarantine.

Students traveling to Vermont from a non-quarantine county as identified by the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development on August 1st, who travel in a private vehicle without making a prolonged stop, may arrive without completing a quarantine.

We continue to review closely the guidance being issued by both New York and Vermont and will continue to inform our campus community as timely as possible what the implications are of these new requirements.
