When we think of gentleness, we note a marked contrast between that ideal and the standards displayed in our country today. Too often marked by hostility and malice, rather than compassion and reasonableness, gentleness is lacking. Gentleness, not to be confused with weakness or a lack of resolve, is a character trait we all could use more of today.
Gentleness doesn't come naturally. It is something that must be learned. It is a trait that is godly, and as followers of God, He expects us to become gentle, just as He is.Becoming gentle is not easy and often comes with great difficulty and through harrowing circumstances.
ACTION PLAN
Gentleness is a strong hand with a soft touch. It is a tender, compassionate approach toward others' weaknesses and limitations. A gentle person still speaks truth, sometimes even painful truth, but in doing so, guards his tone so the truth can be well received. Exercise gentleness with others and pray for opportunities to model the balance of truth and love in thought, conversation, and deed.
