Parents and Guardians,
I hope you had a great 4th of July and are enjoying the summer with your student. Administratively, we have been busy hiring new staff and getting ready for the 2021-2022 school year. Summer is flying by and school will be starting in just over a month!
I wanted to send an email today with some reminders and new information about upcoming dates, deadlines, and events. Please take a few minutes to review the contents of the email, and let us know if you have any questions or need clarification. Have a great week!

College App Workshop
Thursday, July 15th
The college app workshop will be held from 10:00- 11:00 am in the LHS Lecture Hall. This will be a time for the students to learn and discuss the nuances of the college application systems, Apply Texas and The CommonApp.

College and Career Essay Workshop
(New Date) Tuesday, July 20th
The college essay workshop will be held from 9:00- 10:00 am in the LHS Lecture Hall. This will be a time for the counselors to review college essay expectations for college application season. Students will have a chance to discuss topics and expectations from the college admissions process.

AP Scores Available Mid-July

2021-22 Senior Portraits
Monday, July 19th - Thursday, July 22nd
As a reminder, Senior Portraits are scheduled for next week.
Appointments will be required to get your portraits taken and you can sign up at www.bephoto.com. Click the link for “Senior Yearbook Session Sign-Up”. The session is FREE and includes a formal pose (tux or drape) plus a cap & gown pose and takes about 15 minutes. (All clothing is provided). The sign-up link also has many answers to frequently asked questions.

School Supplies
Compiling a list of common items needed for Lovejoy High School is a bit difficult considering the diversity of classes that a typical student can take. Knowing that many of you may want to shop for school supplies before you receive the complete list from teachers on the 1st day of school, we invite you to click SUPPLIES to consult a spreadsheet that details what items are needed for each department. Please note that there are 5 tabs, one for each of the core subjects: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and LOTE.

Shruti Subramaniyan, a rising Junior at LHS, works as a volunteer for Golden Ears space observatory (Spacelabs, Canada) based in Vancouver, Canada. As part of her work she analyzes images collected by Golden Ears Transit Survey (GEOTS) system and identify any transients and minor planets.
On 06/23/21, she discovered a transient, potential cataclysmic variable star in Andromeda constellation at G-mag of 17.1 and reported. The discovery was verified and accepted. The discovery certificate along with credits are in the following link:
