ISSUE NO. 263 / July 28, 2021

Sunapee Happenings
Singer, songwriter, artist Tom Pirozzoli’s painting reminds us of the
prolific summertime abundance of gifts from the earth.
July has gone forward with the good speed of Hermes making our heads and hearts spin.  A spate of three weeks of rain has placed us firmly out of reach of the drought, but it has also put us in the way of other potential calamities …. flood watches, cloud to ground lightning, all the while drowning our once parched gardens. We persevere because that is what Mother Nature requires of us. Unseen... but deeply felt in our bones and brains, we sense the first shift toward autumn. We don’t like to admit it because there is still a half of summer left: blooming white hydrangeas and orange daylilies are brightening stone walls, a second brood of robins, blueberries on the bush ready for picking, roadside ice cream stands are open, and still warm temperatures entice us to swim in the lake.

Bluegrass, Boots & Bling!
For one glorious summer Saturday, the rain held off and we got to enjoy a beautiful night in Sunapee. We want to thank you for attending Bluegrass, Boots and Bling! Your support of our event will help us to carry on our mission and continue to nurture the roots of our community.

After many months spent at home being “me”, the night seemed like a reminder that some of the nectar of life can be found in “we”. Thank you so much for coming. You made it fun, you made it festive, you made it community.
