The First Sunday of Advent

We invite you to worship with us in-person or on-line this Sunday at Central!
Advent and Christmas is always meaningful and fun at Central. It will be both this year even though COVID-19 WILL SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASE OUR TIME TOGETHER AND CURTAIL SOME OF OUR SINGING.

Al Jeter, Keith Jones, and others have worked hard and creatively on our holy-day-celebrations. See schedule on the link above.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!

You have already received a lot of information about the upcoming Advent services, so this short article will give you some of the music specifics, along with an update on our Music for at Home Devotions.
This coming Sunday is November 29th, the first Sunday of Advent. As has become customary, we will usher in the Advent season with the delightful children's song, Light One Candle. Come to church or tune in via our live - streamed service to see who will be singing this year! Later in the service, a new face and voice on temporary loan from Converse College, Kaylyn Good, will be singing a beautiful arrangement of My Lord, What a Mornin'. And finally, very near the end of the service following the Hanging of the Greens, Sarah Monroe and Al Jeter will sing a delightful arrangement of The Holly and the Ivy, with Brian Dailey providing the quirky accompaniment.
There will be no new Music for at Home Devotions (MFAHD) this week, out of deference to the Thanksgiving holiday. However, next week and throughout Advent we will have special guests for MFAHD. Heather Jones (my daughter) and her boyfriend, Chad Kranak, will record favorite Advent selections like "O thou that tellest", Comfort ye", and "Ev'ry Valley" from Handel's Messiah; and Schubert's iconic Ave Maria. More will come in the following weeks. To access these MFATD recordings to
come, check out Central's website and click on "Music for at Home Devotions." Past recordings are on the page marked, "Music for at Home Devotions Archive." All video recordings are also posted on Facebook each week.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Ways to Give to Central

We continue to be deeply grateful for continued support of the mission and ministry of Central Church. Even though we have started back worshipping in the sanctuary, we have limited the handling of offerings and cash. There are a few ways to continue to make offerings extremely easy.
  1. The US mail always works. We are at 233 North Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306
  2. Contact Ann Darby to set up a recurring gift through an automatic bank draft.
  3. On the homepage on the church's website there is a "Give" link. Once you set up that app any additional gifts are as easy as one or two clicks.

Mission Statement:
"Our purpose is making
and nurturing
disciples of
Jesus Christ."
