URGENT NEED!
DONATE TODAY- Sept. 30
BLOOD DRIVE in Fellowship Hall
2 pm —7 pm
|
|
PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING BLOOD! There is currently less than a day's inventory of blood available for Versiti Blood Center's hospital partners. Patients' lives could be at risk, particularly if trauma situations occur and an adequate blood supply cannot be maintained. Also, one in seven people entering the hospital will need blood. Visit GLC's webpage for more information and to schedule an appointment (preferred, but walk-ins are welcome)!

Pastor Wende's
Weekend Message
|
|
This week Jesus speaks about divorce. You could consider it a tough gospel. Or you can see it as Jesus advocating for women who were viewed as possessions and had no rights.
What I do know is this. God does not want us to have broken relationships or intend for us to be brokenhearted.
Yet, we are human and we all are broken in many and various ways. However, the Good News is each of us, sealed in our baptism, has a never-ending, never broken relationship with God!
Gracious God, we are grateful that You are always there for us. Even in our brokenness You come to make us whole. Help us to see that we are never alone. Amen

Let the Little Children Come to Me
Mark 10:2-16
Last weekend during the 10:30 service our 3-year-olds were presented with their Bibles and also received a blessing! We recorded this event and will share the video during the Saturday 5 pm and Sunday 9 am services this weekend.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
|
|
How do I become like a child?
“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Mark 10: 15
What characteristics of a child might Jesus be thinking about when he says this?
Curiosity? Innocence?
Playfulness? Resilience?
Eager to learn? Trusting?
Children keep it simple. Children readily trust. They have not been tainted or wounded over many years of life. Their hearts have not been hardened by too many hurts. Children are vulnerable and they understand they are not self-sufficient. They know they need someone else, to make dinner and to bandage their wounds.
Which of these characteristics might you want to adopt or practice a little more of in your life?

GLC by the Numbers
READ IT WHEN YOU GET IT TO WIN!
|
|
We've changed up our annual report this year! It's filled with all the important stuff, but we've had a little (or a lot) of FUN in the way it's presented. We're so excited for you to read it that we've come up with a bit of a CONTEST! Who doesn't love a contest??
|
|
Here's how the CONTEST works:
-
Look in your email inbox tomorrow, Fri., October 1, for the Annual Meeting Announcement. Open it to find the Annual Report!
-
Read the Annual Report.
-
Email Margo by Fri., October 8, with your your favorite number/part/page of the report.
-
Winner(s?) will be announced at the Annual Meeting. You might win a gift card to GRAHAMS! You do not need to be present to win.
