Career and Technical Education Month®, or CTE Month, is a public awareness campaign that takes place each February to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs. Use these activities and resources to engage your students and participate in DECA's Advocacy Campaign.
DECA Resources
  • CTE Month Activity Ideas - We all know the importance of marketing DECA to recruit new members, but CTE Month is your chance to take your chapter’s marketing and advocacy efforts to the next level! Check out these ideas to get started.

  • Essential Guide for Virtual Advocacy - In recent years, virtual advocacy has become a powerful way for students to make an impact from school or home. Use these tips to help your members plan an impactful virtual visit.


  • DECA's Impact - Need help explaining the impact of DECA? Check out this new webpage with highlights from the past academic year. You can also download a helpful DECA fact sheet with up-to-date statistics.

  • Tell Your DECA Story - Although there are many ways to become involved, the best way to connect with your local legislators and community leaders is to share your DECA Story.
ACTE Resources
  • CTE Month Portal - Filled with templates and how-to guides, ACTE's CTE Month portal hosts many tools your members need to plan activities. Members can also learn more about CTE, download state profiles, access virtual video backgrounds and more.

  • Advocacy Toolkit - ACTE has developed a variety of tools to assist you in your advocacy activities, keep you informed and promote ongoing support for CTE. The tools provide step-by-step directions and examples that will help you reach out to policymakers at the local, state and federal levels, as well as your community and the media.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
This classroom connection will provide instructional resources to introduce the following National Curriculum Standards:

  • Implement a digital marketing campaign
  • Repurpose content for use on multiple platforms
  • Identify ways to segment markets for marketing communications
  • Create a public service announcement
  • Interpret statistical findings
  • Explain the use of storytelling in marketing
  • Plan special events
Complete three school outreach activities, three public policymaker outreach activities and three community outreach activities during February, and your DECA chapter can earn recognition through DECA’s Advocacy Campaign!
