Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 7pm in the GVEC Community Room, 13849 U.S. Hwy 87 W in La Vernia. Please feel free to bring items of local historical interest for "Show & Tell" - a very popular part of our meetings! Light refreshments will be available following the meeting.

The La Vernia Heritage Museum continues to be closed due to COVID however, we have been busy preparing for new exhibits, cleaning and installing new display cases. We hope to open for appointments soon! If you have questions about the museum or wish to schedule a visit, please contact us at 210-392-3281. We will once again welcome groups very soon!

Send us your family info before Nov. 30! This will be a history book about La Vernia families which will be treasured for many years to come!

In celebration of our 20 Year Anniversary in 2022, we will publish a book, "Lavernia Legacies, the Family History Edition" to record the families who LIVE AND HAVE LIVED in our area. YOUR family story and photos are needed. All families are welcome to be included - whether you have lived here for generations or have just moved here!

There are small fees for the page spaces but all participants will receive a free copy of the book. SPONSOR ads are welcome, too, so businesses or organizations may also be included. We will design your ad at no extra charge or you may design your own.

You don't have to write a ton of info to be included! Maybe you only want to provide are a few names and that's OKAY! WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU! Please

We ask that at least ONE PERSON in your story lives or has lived in La Vernia.

Remember - your submitted info can be as little as one photo or up to 3 photos! Your "story" can be family name only OR up to 400 words (depending on the size ad you want).

The DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 30, 2021 so don't delay!

The fees below will make it possible for us to publish the book and provide a FREE COPY to every participant. The cost of the printed book will depend on the number of participants. The more participants, the lower the cost of the book, which we will keep below $20. Please help us reach all families in La Vernia - share-share-share. Thank you.

Bricks are paving the way to the final goal at the La Vernia Veterans Memorial

Your brick orders will help us complete the final phase of the construction - a 21' obelisk in the center similar to the one pictured here.

"Bricks and bench donations will get us to our final goal," said LV Veterans Memorial Chairman, Walter Scull. "The wall inscriptions are not a fundraiser but the brick and bench orders will help us finish this beautiful project."

Bricks - $60 and $250

Benches - $2,500 per side

Dates to Remember in 2021

September 7 - Next LVHA meeting at the GVEC Community Room at 7pm. Light refreshments will be served.

October 12 - Deadline for applications for Veterans' inscriptions on the La Vernia Veterans Memorial to be ready by Veterans Day. Get applications for inscriptions, bricks, or benches here.

November 11 - Veterans Day ceremony at the La Vernia Veterans Memorial, 11am, weather (and COVID-19) permitting.

The County Line Community Band will once again be performing!!

November 30 - DEADLINE to submit YOUR FAMILY story for our upcoming history book, Lavernia Legacies, the Family History Edition.
