Performance Audit and OptimaEd's Response

The performance audit prepared by the TCCA board consultant,

Brian Carpenter was released on 1/25/2023.

Please take the time to read this important document.

Doodle for Google is doing its annual contest and we would LOVE to see our TCCA Scholar Artists participate! You can make your creation and submit it online at any time. The deadline for submissions is March 7, 2023. All scholars in grades K-12 can participate. The link to submit your creation here.  This year's drawing prompt aligns wonderfully with our school values.

"I am grateful for..."

Taking a step back to think about what we're grateful for can be a great way to take care of our mental health and refocus on what's most important. What moments, people, places, and things are special to you? What or whom can you not imagine living without? What are the things that get you through the day? Our theme this year encourages you to share what you appreciate most.

54 Students will be named winners from their state/territory. Four finalists will win a $5,000 scholarship. One winning student will receive:

  • A $30,000 college scholarship.
  • A $50,000 Google for Education technology package for their school.
  • Their artwork will be placed on the Google homepage for a day.

By the way, if your Scholar makes a submission, his/her Art Teacher would love to know and see it!

Please join us for our family-friendly 5k and Fun Run! You can sign up to participate here.

Join us in thanking our generous sponsors!

Virtue Recognition

The TCCA Lower School recognized the Fall Semester Scholars of Virtue for each grade during lunch in front of their peers! Two scholars from each class were nominated by their teacher for exemplary demonstration of the 7 Pillars of Virtue during the first half of this school year. In addition, one scholar from each grade was recognized by the PE Team for demonstrating the virtues during PE. So proud of these Titans!

The PTC Bingo Night was a big hit; there was a huge turnout of TCCA Families enjoying food trucks, hot cocoa, and bingo of course!

Thank you for coming out!

Athletics Corner

By Danielle Iballarossa, Athletics Director

TCCA is excited to create the foundations of an athletic program. We are working towards our acceptance into the FHSAA and becoming a competitive program. This school year, we began our athletic journey with Cross Country, Swim and Track. The Cross Country team did an amazing job competing in Fall and the Swim team worked hard and broke personal records during their practice season. We are so proud of the perseverance and responsibility these scholars have shown. We are looking forward to seeing the 3rd-5th grade Track and Field team in the Russell Halloway Track and Field event on February 25th.

TCCA is focused on offering more sports but we need YOUR help! In a recent survey, we have seen a lot of interest in sports at TCCA, which is fantastic! However, when offering the sports most requested by parents and scholars (track for example) we have not seen the registration that reflects the survey results. In order for TCCA to meet the requirements of the FHSAA and become competitive, we need more scholars to participate in our team sports. We are unable to secure facilities and entrance into conferences without the participation from our scholars.

For the purpose of establishing a team and securing enrollment for the following school year (23-24), TCCA will offer out-of season club practice teams from February 27th-May 12th (excluding the week of Spring Break, March 13th-17th). Please note that TCCA is trying to enter into conferences for the upcoming school year, this is done prior to the start of the actual season. Therefore, in order for us to have an accurate record of the scholar-athletes who will commit to each team in season, this opportunity is only for scholar-athletes who are committed to joining the team in the upcoming season.

Spring Club Practice Teams:

  • Soccer, Boys, Grades 5-9
  • Basketball, Co-Ed, Grades 5-9
  • Co-Ed Cross Country, Grades 5-9
  • Co-Ed Swim, Grades 5-9
  • Girls Volleyball, Grades 5-9
  • Co-Ed Tennis, Grades 5-9

We understand that many scholars are currently committed to sports teams outside of TCCA and may be competitive. We want to encourage that commitment and competitiveness with TCCA teams and we would greatly appreciate your support to build a strong and lasting athletic program.

If you have connections to facilities that TCCA teams could use to practice or are interested in being part of the Athletic Committee (PTC), please reach out to Danielle Sinatra-Ibalarrosa at dsinatra@treasurecoastclassical.org. Thank you!

If your scholar is interested in participating in a tennis team, all 6th-8th grade TCCA scholars have access to the athletics program at Treasure Coast Middle School. Check out this flyer for more information on their tennis team or contact

Mrs. Sinatra-Iballarosa.

Understanding FAST score reports

By Tara Zettler, Dean of Curriculum and Instruction

As most of you already know, Florida schools have transitioned to the Florida Benchmark for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) content standards and to the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) for Grades K–10 ELA Reading and Grades 3–8 Mathematics. Scholars are assessed at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year in order to track their progress. TCCA will complete the middle-of-the-year progress monitoring by the end of January and you will receive (or have already received) your child’s score report within the next couple of weeks. Click here for more information about the reports.

How does FAST progress monitoring benefit our school? The FAST results are reported at the student, teacher, school, district, and state levels. So, teachers can see results, by benchmark, at the student level. This information can help teachers identify areas where a student may need additional support. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about the results.

Each progress monitoring test covers the full “test blueprint,” meaning that all content expectations for that subject and grade level are assessed. Therefore, for PM 1 and PM2, your student may not yet be at grade level; however, this does not necessarily indicate that a student is not on track to succeed. It is important for teachers and families to understand that score information is intended to provide baseline and mid-year results for PM1 and PM2 respectively. These results are for informational purposes only and should be used to identify areas that may need additional instruction and support. These results should not be considered student achievement designations.

PM3 will provide a summative score at the end of the year to measure student mastery of the grade-level content standards. The PM3 student report will show a student’s performance for all three windows for comparison, if the student participated in each PM opportunity.

As members of a team work together toward a common goal, let’s strive toward a helpful view of state testing for the children’s sake. The FAST Test is only one data point among others used to determine whether or not the child can perform to the grade level standards. If you are concerned about your child’s progress, reach out to your child’s teacher. Our aim is to partner with you for your child’s education and to help your child grow!
