Next Tuesday, people will be voting all over the country, including at Covenant. I'm glad our church is a polling place--one of many ways we serve the community.
As part of our efforts to love our neighbors, especially in challenging times, we will have individually wrapped cookies from Just Bakery for everyone who comes to vote.

Today I took a selfie at our brand new election selfie station (even though I already voted at a different location.) Thank you to our Communications Coordinator Lexie Ofe for the selfie station!
If you haven't voted already, consider this:
|
|
A suggestion for Christians on how to vote:
- Pray the Lord's Prayer
- Remember that we are called to love our neighbors--all of them.
- Think about how your vote will impact the neighbors you are called to love.
|
|
We have a new sign out front to help us remember to love ALL of our neighbors, a key teaching of Jesus. If you need more spiritual guidance, read the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7, which brings together many other ethical teachings of Jesus.
|
|
|
We offer noon prayer on our Facebook page every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I shared this prayer on Wednesday (click here to watch).
I encourage you to continue praying for our country and our leaders--all of them. I will be praying for:
- a fair election with clear results
- gracious winners and losers, with smooth transitions
- a renewed commitment to work together for the common good.
|
|
Given that we may not know full election results Tuesday night, we will need to be prayerful, civil, strong, and gracious. Jesus' teaching us to love our neighbors is as important as ever.
On the journey, apart but together,
Charlie
PS--This Sunday in worship we share communion and we remember loved ones who have died in our annual All Saints Commemoration. And we also have another round of Drive Thru Donuts and Devotionals. See info below.

Calling All Writers!
Words of Wisdom, Words of Faith Congregational Devotional
We will begin 2021 thinking about WORDS—with a congregational devotional and a sermon series. You are invited to reflect on a word for our devotional (for example, some words that have already been chosen are star, baptism, disciple, gospel, least, bread, and listen).
Click here to sign-up for writing a devotional. The form will prompt you to choose a word and accompanying scripture for your devotional writing, which should be no more than 350 words and include a short prayer. Please submit your devotionals to Lexie Ofe (lofe@covenantmadison.org) by November 30. Thank you, and happy writing!
