IN-PERSON WORSHIP

This weekend's worship services will be held inside in our sanctuary at 9am and 11am! As outlined in the most recent COVID-19 Safety Update from Pastor Hank, masks are required for all attendants age 3 and up regardless of vaccination status. Hand sanitizer will be available and encouraged upon entrance.
ONLINE WORSHIP

We welcome all young adults to join us for lunch immediately after our 11am worship service each 1st and 3rd Sunday! We will meet in the open area (go through the double doors at the far end of the lobby). We hope for this to be a time of making connections as well as encouraging one another in our walks! Feel free to reach out to Pastor Brie with any questions.

You can register here (helps with food prep), but registration is not required. Donations toward the meal are welcome. There is a collection box at the meals or you can donate here and choose the ‘Young Adult Ministry’ fund line.
2021 CHRISTMAS LOVE GIFT

From Emerson Lesher, Board Chair:
Christmas is a time for giving and receiving. The Church Board invites you to show your appreciation to our pastoral and support staff by giving a Christmas Love Gift for the many gifts
they have given the congregation in 2021. We have been blessed by their leadership, compassion, acts of kindness, prayers, wisdom, teaching, and countless hours of service. These gifts will be received until December 19.

Gifts are considered tax deductible, can be submitted in the same way as other offerings (either in the offering box on Sunday, mailed or online) and should be marked “Christmas Love Gift." Let’s join together in the spirit of Christmas and show appreciation for our wonderful staff in this way.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE

There are several positions the Nominating Committee will be working to fill for voting at the February Council Meeting. You're invited to share names of those in the congregation you feel God has equipped for the following positions for consideration by the Nominating Committee: Church Board member, Deacon Team member, Property Committee member, Regional and/or General Conference delegate.

To share your recommendations, contact Pastor Hank, Pastor Patty or Sarah Barron.
ANNUAL PRE-COUNCIL MEETING

Join us for our Annual Pre-Council Meeting on Wednesday, December 1 at 6:45pm for an initial discussion about the 2022 HBIC Budget. The electronic version of the Pre-Council packet is available here, and paper copies can be obtained at church beginning tomorrow. This year, we are offering you the opportunity to attend in-person in the Sanctuary or virtually on Zoom. The link will be available soon.
CHRISTMAS DECORATING

The Worship Arts Team will be decorating the church for Christmas on Saturday, December 4 and could use your help! This is a job for you even if you don't have a creative eye...if you can follow directions, come lend a hand! Contact Pastor Hannah if you plan to help out or if you have any questions.
COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS

Each year, we work together to provide toys, pajamas and more to bless families in our community. We need many volunteers to help bring toys out of storage, put together bags of gifts, run gifts to cars for curbside pickup on December 18, etc.! If you are interested in volunteering, visit the sign-up form or contact Pastor Carmen.

The annual Toy Drive to support Community Christmas will take place now through December 17. A bin will be in the lobby for donated items as you follow the Lord's call to give generously this holiday season. For gift ideas, see the Toy Drive flyer.
BLOOD DRIVE AT HBIC

On December 20, from 10am to 3pm, the Red Cross will be hosting a Blood Drive at our church and donors are needed. What a special way to show kindness and compassion this holiday season! Click here to access the Red Cross registration site, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to make an appointment.
CHRISTMAS EVE AT HBIC

We invite you to come and celebrate the coming of Christ with us on December 24! We will have in-person and live-streamed services at 4:30pm and 6pm that will include worship through song, the reading of God's Word, and traditional candle lighting.
MCC CHRISTMAS GIVING PROJECTS

Each year our church invites the congregation to participate in a Christmas giving project that reaches around the world. Rather than collecting specific items this year as we have done in years past, we are sharing with you Mennonite Central Committee's (MCC) Christmas Giving Project List.

MCC makes it easy for individuals and families to choose Christmas gifts full of purpose and practicality. From tangible gifts such as fruit trees, wells and goats to broader gifts of hope and welcome, each gift helps people to improve their life in some way. Check out the info video here and the online 2021 MCC Christmas Giving Project List here!

You have two choices about how to be involved:
  • Pick one or more projects that you'd like to give toward this year, and give your donation directly to MCC.
  • Give a donation to our church, between now and December 19th, marked for MCC Christmas. All donations that the church receives (either by check or in our online giving) will be forwarded to MCC toward various projects, especially those in countries where we have global workers.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Mission of Mercy, the medical clinic we partner with to serve the community, is in need of volunteer help. The person who answers voicemails and responds to calls will not be available from December until April of next year and interim assistance is needed to fill this role. Mission of Mercy will provide the phone, training, and all needed resources. This volunteer will likely need to be available for 2-3 hours a week to make follow up calls and book appointments. If you're interested in this opportunity, contact Pastor Brie.
REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT HELP

The Refugee Resettlement program in Harrisburg is currently looking for landlords with affordable and safe apartments/houses in the Harrisburg or Mechanicsburg area that are willing to rent to newly-arrived refugees. Catholic Charities can typically provide 2-3 months of rent, but the majority of refugees are employed and equipped to pay rent and utilities by the second month.  Places for refugees to stay temporarily until they are able to move into their apartment are also needed.

Contact Pastor Carmen if you are able to help in one of these ways!
