The District Superintendent has scheduled the disaffiliation vote for Lakewood on
Wednesday, February 15 at 7pm in the CAC gym.
YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO VOTE AND HAVE A PICTURE ID. You must be in line to vote by 8pm. Only professing members of Lakewood will be permitted to vote. If you have any questions about your membership status, please contact Tamra Smith in the office at 904-733-8477 or tamra.smith@lakewoodumc.com.
If you need a ride to vote on February 15, please contact Tamra.
Linked here is the Power Point presentation that Ken Perry shared at the Informational meeting. This presentation covers costs, a sample ballot, and other questions you may have. If you were unable to attend last Thursday’s meeting, you can find it on Lakewood’s YouTube channel, also linked here until February 10.
A few members have questioned our process and why we are not doing the same things as some other UMC churches. Lakewood started its discernment process last year and had presentations from the UMC, Wesley Covenant Association, and several informational meetings. Our District Superintendent Rev. Durwood Foshee, determined that another UMC meeting was not necessary, being satisfied with the presentation from Corey Britt and Derek Scott last year. Rev. Foshee will be at Lakewood to open our voting meeting on February 15 and may share comments at that time. His senior assistant, Pam Levesque will be present to oversee the voting and counting.
If you have lingering questions or concerns, please reach out to any member of the Task team, the One Church Board, or Pastor Don. We have sought to be fully transparent in this process and are happy to share all information. The list of Lakewood’s leadership board and task team is linked here.
Please continue to be in prayer for God’s leading and for the vote on February 15. Pray for healing for Lakewood and for its ministries moving into the future.
