Principals' Welcome
We are excited that the first day of Distance Learning class is Monday! To start school, students need their device and internet access, and hopefully their device has a working camera and microphone. In most cases, other supplies will not be needed for Distance Learning. The supply lists further down in the Lions Share are for when we return to in-person learning.

Please be sure to read the section on Being Prepared for the First Day of Class and the First Day of School Checklist, and be sure to share it with your secondary student(s). This information will help everyone to be ready for a smooth start to the first day of school, and also has where you can go for help if you are having trouble.

Welcome back to virtual Meridian School!
Being Prepared for the First Day of Class
All students & parents of students, grades 6-12:

For a quick guide on making sure students are ready for the first day of Distance Learning August 10, we've put together a Quick Checklist for the First Day of School.
Orientation Webinars for Parents and Students
If you missed a parent webinar or want to revisit the information, check our website. We upload recordings as quickly as we can following the presentations. We have helpful information for Special Services, 6th Grade, new 7th-9th grade families, and more on the way. All secondary students may find the 7th-9th grade presentation helpful.
High School Student Government Elections
Student Council and Class Councils will have virtual applications and elections for the 2020-2021 school year for students in grades 9 through 12.

The timeline for the election process is August 10 through September 4. Students should pay attention for specific information in advisory slides, ManageBac, and school email.

All interested candidates will be invited to a Zoom meeting Wednesday, August 12, in which the application, election timeline, and commitment will be explained. Questions? Feel free to email Mr. Manuszak.
School Supplies
A reminder: as we start the year with distance learning, students will need a device with which they can access the internet and complete their assignments (ideally a Chromebook or laptop with a working microphone and video camera).

Once students return to the school building, they will need more traditional school supplies. Here are the supply lists for when we return to the building (after Labor Day, at the earliest).

Headphones with microphone has been added for when we return to in-person instruction. We will have students in each class still doing distance learning while the rest of class is in person. Having headphones with a microphone will enable in person students to be grouped with distance learning students through Zoom on their device, allowing whole-class interaction between in person and distance learning students.
