Childhood Memories with a Twist

Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!













You've heard me suggest to paint what is close to your heart. This BobBlast delves into a little personal history, childhood memories and the idea that I paint more successfully when I don't try to separate myself from my life experiences.

My Family: Two Parents and Four Brothers. I'm in the middle (surprise!). When I was ten years old, my older brother Michael had the job of taking me to the neighborhood candy store. I had 2 dimes - I was rich! I recall buying anything that was licorice. A box of Good & Plenty candy was, and still is my favorite.

So today, my painting inspiration came from my childhood memory - but this time I put a positive twist on the words to say that we are all Plenty Good!

Two other memories that I have used in my painting inspiration… the first is Cigars.
My dad smoked an occasional cigar. I was fascinated by the bright burning ash and the heavy cut glass ashtray. Equally memorable is the influence of the American Circus and Magic Tricks. You can see some of my work by clicking here.
