May is Better Hearing and Speech Month!

BHSM provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists in providing life-altering treatment. For 2022, the theme is "Connecting People". School-based SLPs work with students in grades K-12 as well as children ages 3-5 years. SLPs help eligible students effectively use their speech and language skills to be successful within the educational environment. Some areas where SLPs help students include speech sounds, spoken and written language, stuttering (fluency), cognition, social communication, and augmentative and alternative communication.
