Dear Residents -
I want to thank the Orangetown Police, Sewer and Highway Department employees, and the Volunteer Fire Departments and EMS agencies, for doing an amazing job during the flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. In Orangetown, 14 people were rescued from submerged cars and floodwaters, numerous basements were pumped out and there were many sewer backups and road closures. While most of us were home in our beds, these men and women worked throughout the night helping others. For that, I am most grateful to our first responders, many who are volunteers, and cannot thank them enough.
The Town has started the process of updating the Orangetown Comprehensive Plan. When complete, this Plan will serve as a guide for growth and development in Orangetown for many years to come. If you are interested in getting e-mail updates, please click here to sign up.
On Saturday, September 11, 2021, the Town will be hosting a Memorial Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall. All are invited to join us as we honor and remember all of those that made the ultimate sacrifice.
With school starting, I want to wish all of the teachers, students and parents a healthy and successful in-person school year. As autumn approaches, please check out the NY Fall Foliage Report. That way, when you are out enjoying our parks and trails, blazing with red, orange and yellow, you won't miss Orangetown at its peak fall foliage!
For those who celebrate, wishing you and your family a healthy, happy and sweet New Year, Shana Tova.
Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
Respectfully,
