From the Flight Deck
Legacy Community Member
Last week on the flight deck our students worked hard to complete their PMA and STAR tests in Science, Civics, Algebra and Geometry. Make up testing for students who missed or were absent and unable to complete will continue this week. Last week we also kicked off track season with tryouts. There was a great turnout from our Jets and we are excited for the upcoming season. Legacy Dance also presented their show Overcoming Adversity on Thursday to a packed cafeteria. On Friday our 7th graders had the opportunity to attend a field trip to Busch Gardens in Tampa to attend their first Biology Day. I received many photos from the trip from chaperones and am happy to share the memories made during the field trip in this week's edition.

This week is the last week of quarter three and we will be starting spring break on March 13th. Our teachers will also be submitting their grades for report cards for quarter three. Please review your students' Skyward grades and have them submit any missing or late assignments.

Some important reminders for this week:

● We have moved our SAC/PTSA Meeting to March 7th at 5:30pm in the Media Center

● March 10th is a Hurricane Make Up Day

● We will be on modified bell schedules on March 9th and 10th
Lastly, I want to please ask that you take a few minutes to complete our survey - click here. The deadline to complete and submit is Friday, March 10th. Once you complete you can email a screenshot or picture that you completed the survey to: legacy_ms@ocps.net to enter into the drawing for a gift card.

I am looking forward to another great week on the flight deck!

A Message from Ms. Fuller:

Dance Gala Information
Thursday, March 9
Tickets to the prestigious dance gala are located below and will be hosted by our feeder University HS. Please join us in celebrating the hard work both I and my dancers have created in the beginning of the school year. Due to Hurricane Ian this event has been posted to March 9th at 7 pm. The dancers were adjudicated in January with 10 etudes that consisted of ballet, modern, and jazz combinations that they had to execute in front of a pristine panel of judges. Legacy received the most heartfelt and positive feedback. We were told that we have such passionate and well trained dancers that pay attention to detail. I am beyond proud of the dance family that I have at Legacy!

Biology Day at Busch Gardens- Tampa

Busch Gardens opened a new ride on Monday: The Serengeti Flyer. Our Jets were proud to show off their first riders pins! One of our groups were even the first riders of the day on Friday before heading to Cheetah Hunt.

During our day at Busch Gardens there were high winds. Our Jets learned that when winds are over 30 mph some of the roller coasters cannot operate safely. Luckily, the Congo River Rapids weren’t closed by the winds, but many of our Jets really got soaked during the ride!

Monday's Motivational Moment!
Make Your Bed
Established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, the Navy SEALs are a nimble, elite maritime military force suited for all aspects of unconventional warfare. SEAL stands for Sea, Air, and Land Teams. If you are in the US Navy and are selected, you may go to the basic SEAL training site in Coronado, California. It consists of six months of some of the most difficult military training in the world led by professionally trained warriors who seek to find the weak of mind and body and eliminate them from ever becoming a Navy SEAL.
During SEAL training, instructors show up in the barracks early every morning to inspect the cadets' beds to make sure they are properly made. This means square corners, tightly pulled covers, and the pillow must be properly centered just under the headboard. The Navy SEAL cadets are required to make their bed to perfection before they head out for the day.

The reason that making your bed exactly right before beginning the day is so important in SEAL training is rather simple. If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. This sparks a small sense of pride in a task well done. This leads you to your next task and then on to another task and so on. By the end of the day, that first task completed turns into many tasks completed. Making your bed also helps to remind the SEALs that details matter; it is the little things that when added up count for a lot. If you cannot do the little things right, you will never be able to do the big things right.

That Can Change Your Life... And Maybe The World"
