RED RIBBON WEEK 2020: October 26 - 30
Stay Sober San Diego!

Red Ribbon Week is a nationally observed campaign focused on raising awareness on the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Throughout the week we will dedicate our prayers and Daily Don announcements to Red Ribbon Week topics. In addition, throughout the week a crashed car will be displayed on campus to represent the dangers of driving under the influence.

Monday, October 26 and Wednesday, October 28
Theme: Don’t be scared to say NO to drugs and alcohol!
  • Students are encouraged to dress up in CCHS approved costume attire. Please see the ASB guidelines for costumes.
  • Join our ASB at lunch for additional activities.
  • Students, join us on a scavenger hunt around campus this week to learn more about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Students who complete this scavenger hunt and turn in their final response will be given the privilege of wearing CCHS spirit dress during the week of November 2 - 5. Click HERE for details on the scavenger hunt starting Monday, October 26th.

Tuesday October 27 and Thursday October 29
Show your Dons and Red Ribbon Pride! Wear Red!
  • Students are encouraged to wear a RED CCHS shirt or polo along with spirit dress approved jeans or uniform bottoms.

FLU Season is Upon Us!
Flu season is upon us! Help #fighttheflu
Wear a mask
Wash your hands
Get a yearly flu vaccine

Flu Vaccine Facts:
  • A flu vaccine helps your body build up antibodies against 2-4 recent flu strains.
  • It takes about two weeks for these antibodies to help provide protection against the flu virus. If your exposed to the flu before that two-week window you may get sick.
  • The flu vaccine has been shown in some studies to reduce the severity of illness and hospitalization.
  • After getting the vaccine you may experience: Soreness/redness at the injection site, headache, fever, muscle aches, nausea and fatigue. These symptoms are a response created by your immune system to the vaccine, not flu symptoms.

Where to get a flu vaccine:
• Schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider.
• Call 211 for health and social services information.

Honoring Our Dearly Departed: All Souls Day & Dia de los Muertos:
This year CCHS will honor those who have died with a special table in the Chapel with a Catholic prayer for the dead and a traditional celebratory Dia de los Muertos altar in the Academic Center. We encourage everyone to join in these traditional observances. Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday that celebrates and remembers those who have passed away. It is believed that those who have departed visit their families from October 31 through November 2. Drop pictures and/or special remembrances of your friends or loved ones (pictures, crosses, something that belonged to them) to Mission & Ministry before Friday, October 24. Be sure to label items with their name, YOUR NAME, and where you would like them honored. (We will make copies if you’d like them included in both locations.) Que Dios los bendiga, God bless!
