Keeper of the Light

There is a light at St. Martin's that never goes out. We call it the "Sanctuary Light" because it hangs in the sanctuary of the chancel (front of the church) lighting the Reserved Sacrament. It reminds us of the presence of Christ who is with us always. During this time when we are not able to be in our building, members of the parish have been taking turns caring for the light in their own home and then passing it on to another member for the next week, until we can all be together again in the church building.

We Pray We Are Getting Closer to Our Next Rector!
The Discernment Committee is interviewing applicants. In addition we will have both a property audit of the church and rectory and a financial audit conducted as part of our preparations before calling a new rector. This is standard procedure required by the Diocese every time a parish calls a new rector. Please keep the applicants, the committee and our parish in your prayers that God will send us the right person for the next chapter of ministry here at St. Martin's.

August is St. Martin’s month to help the Somerset County Food Bank

with distribution of food at Shiloh Pentecostal Church in Somerville. A van driver and helpers are needed each Saturday of August, and there are 5 Saturdays! One person is needed at the food bank location in Bound Brook at 8:20 a.m. to help load the vans and drive one of them to the church. Two or three additional helpers are needed at the church at 9:00 a.m. to assist with food distribution. Please email Marlene at MFICZKO@OPTONLINE.NET if you would like to volunteer. Let her know which dates you are available and if you would be willing to drive the van. Thank you.

Calling all Pandemic Chefs:

Do you have a favorite recipe that you would like to share with the parish? Have you tried something new during your time home? Has your grandparent handed down a recipe that you can't find in any other cookbook? I'm putting together a St. Martin's recipe book that I will share electronically with everyone. How can you share your recipe? Scan it, take a picture of it, send me a link to the online site, type it up in Word, send it to me in the mail. There will be the usual categories: Appetizers, salads, drinks, entrees, desserts, misc. Send them to randyali@aol.com.
How can we put this delicately and positively?

The people of St. Martin's are generous with their time, their finances, and offering the volunteer services they do. We have so much for which to be grateful. We are so committed to the ministry we share. We love this church.
So please keep up your financial support, because frankly, it is needed!
