Mary Magdalene (Rachel Marineau) and the followers of Jesus in “Everything’s Alright." From left to right: Maureen Hamilton, Catie Pacheco, Jack Tessier, Rachel Marineau, Samantha Wong, Diane Turner, Kirstin Weber, James Maxted, and Elizabeth Steimel.
Jesus Christ Superstar is the rock opera based on the last week of Jesus’ life. Lyrics are by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and the first musical by them to be produced for the professional stage. Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for half a century. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

From left to right: Jamey Pellegrini as Peter, Kelly Snow as Judas, Jack Tessier as John, and John Downes as Jesus.
Jesus Christ Superstar continues to touch new generations of audiences and performers. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s theatrical masterpiece began on Broadway 50 years ago and is loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire. The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.”
FCT's production is directed by Matt Moore, vocal director is Katy Benko Miner, and the orchestra director is Catherine Drummond. The show is choreographed by Josie Corrado, costumes by Heidi Santschi, lighting design by Dan Martin, and produced by Mary Beth Balint. The production is sponsored by Brookside Neighbors. Jesus Christ Superstar is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. Tickets are $18 for students, $20 for seniors, and $22 for adults. Tickets are available at www.FCTstage.org, by emailing Tickets@FCTstage.org, or by calling 540-349-8760.
