Brampton Businesses and Stage 3 Reopening

Following the Government of Ontario's announcement permitting Peel Region to move into Stage 3, the City of Brampton prepared for the safe reopening of more businesses and services in Brampton as of Friday, July 31.

As part of the Stage 3 provincial reopening, indoor gatherings of up to 50 people and outdoor gatherings of up to 100 people are now permitted. These gatherings remain subject to compliance with provincial physical distancing requirements of a two-metre distance from anyone outside your household or 10-person social circle.

The City's Emergency measures by-laws on physical distancing remains in effect, prohibiting people from maintaining less than a 2 metre distance from one another on any public property. Individuals not adhering to physical distancing regulations can be fined a minimum of $500 and maximum of up to $100,000 for each offence. Residents can call 311 to report non-compliance.

Keeping Workers Safe - Sector Specific Guidance


 
What you need to know:

  • Adjust the workspace to create physical barriers or restructure physical settings between people to protect employees and visitors and ensure that 2 metres (6 feet) of space can be maintained.
  • When possible, employees should continue to work from home.
  • Install physical distancing markers or directional arrows to ensure a 1-way flow of people.

As part of Ontario's Food Cluster, one of North America's largest Agri-Food sectors, Brampton has a thriving food and beverage sector supported by industry-leading technology, top-quality products, and a rich agricultural tradition.

The Food and Beverage Processing sector has remained strong throughout the pandemic and has been a key contributor to the City's strength during this time.

The Catalyst Cyber Camp is a unique new program for youth in Brampton to learn important skills in cybersecurity. Kids solve cybersecurity challenges in a competitive and fun virtual environment, learning a new increasingly important skill as Canadians spend more time online.

The camp delivers free, online programming to 500 youth ages 13-18 in Brampton with Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst, Ryerson University, the City and community partners. Campers have access to 400 hours of virtual programming, including cutting-edge games, activities and puzzles that increase in complexity as the program progresses. They have the opportunity to compete to collect points and win prizes along the way.

From now until September 4, the camp gives youth an opportunity to have fun and develop new skills during COVID-19, when many seasonal programs are closed.
