Hi folks,
Today marks the end of the second trimester and lets us know we've made it 2/3 of the way through the school year. Our 6th and 7th graders jump into their term 5 classes today as well. The month of March will be another busy one for our staff and students as we march up to spring break. We have students at math competitions and science fairs this weekend...good luck to all of our participants! And then the next few weeks are highlighted with our school musical taking center stage for four shows, an 8th grade field trip to the Steppenwolf theater, a slew of instrumental music concerts and the final Dance Assembly sessions for our 6th graders. Sounds like fun to me!
Here are some other important reminders:
High School Musical 2 Jr.
We are SO excited to present this year's musical production -- High School Musical 2 Jr. -- to the entire NBJ community. We have a double cast this year and are offering four productions (two for each cast). All shows will be held in the NBJH small gym. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8 or online (fee applies) through this Sunday. Showtimes next week are:
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, March 8-10 @ 7pm
Saturday, March 11 @ 2pm
Lunch/Snacks
The March lunch menu is currently posted on the NBJH website. Additionally, please send snacks with your child if they plan to have a snack during the school day. Our health office is unable to meet the increasing demand for crackers/pretzels.
Hot Off the Press!
Here is Issue 8 of the Trojan Times. This digital publication is created during the 6th grade Journalism I class that is part of our exploratory rotation. This is the second of three issues published each school year. This issue includes interviews with an NFL football player and a Heisman winner as well as some of our own graphic novelists and athletes. Check it out!
Winter MAP Reports
Be on the lookout for an email from Data Specialist Dustin Anand this afternoon that will include your student(s)' NWEA Measures of Academic Progress Report. The report will show your student(s)' results as well as the district average in reading and math from the winter testing window. The MAP tests provide helpful information for families to monitor the growth of their child, for teachers to continue to understand student learning, and for the district to measure overall performance and alignment to learning standards. Please visit the Northbrook 28 website for additional details regarding the MAP assessment.
Trimester 2 Report Cards
We plan to email report cards to families on Tuesday, March 14th.
8th Grade Families
Our online payment page is open for families to register and pay for a one-time graduation fee and for the April 27 trip to Six Flags Great America for the annual Physics Day. Registration/RSVP is due by March 14 from all 8th graders. Registration must be completed online, but families have the option to pay online or by cash or check. Please make checks payable to Northbrook School District 28.
Enjoy the weekend...
