Weekly Director Letter 07/16/2021
Dear Parents,

I know that I sent the information below as an alert in Brightwheel on Thursday, but as some parents are busy may not read all the messages, I feel it is so very important so I am pasting it here. Thank you to the parents who responded right away. As a rule, if your child will be absent, please take a moment to send the teacher a brief message in Brightwheel letting us know if they are sick or just taking a day off so that we can always keep up on your child. Likewise, if you will be arriving after 10:00 am, please send the teacher a message in the app so that we can prepare enough lunches. This is easier for the teacher and is better than calling the school. When you call with the message, the teacher may be outside and can't get your call. If they get the message, they can call the kitchen and let our chef know to expect your child.
HEALTH & SAFETY ALERT: The health and safety of our students remains our #1 concern.

SICK CHILDREN: To prevent the spread of illness, we cannot permit children who are sick to be in the school. We understand kids get colds, but if your child has colored discharge from the nose, please keep them at home. If your child is at school with colored discharge, we will send you a photo and you will be called to pick them up. We understand this makes it hard for working parents but we cannot risk infecting the other children in our school. If your child is sent home with yellow or green discharge, they MUST HAVE A NOTE FROM A DOCTOR TO RETURN. If a doctor says your child is ok to return or is being treated with medication we will gladly accept the child back in school.
FEVER: If your child is sent home with a fever, they cannot return to school the next day. DCF requires that children must be FEVER FREE for 24 hours before returning to school.

Please know that we are not doctors, but if we think your child may a communicable disease such as hand, foot, and mouth or pink eye, we will be sending them home and a doctor's note will be needed for their return.

MASKS: The CDC requires that mask wearing inside should be followed by children above the age of 2. Our waivers allow us to require mask wearing ages 4 and up. As children in Rainbow class turn 4 at different times of the year, to have consistency in the class, ALL children in Rainbow, Brown, Purple, Orange, Gold, and Silver must arrive wearing a mask. We have been providing disposable masks for kids who forget, but these masks break and some children are requesting a mask every day. All children in the classes mentioned are asked to bring a mask daily. We will no longer provide them at the front door. If your child comes without a mask, we will give them a fabric mask and bill your account $5. If your child comes to school with a mask and it breaks, we will gladly give them a disposable one until they get home.

Thank you for helping us to keep our school safe for all children.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
