See what is happening at Grace Lutheran!
July 22, 2021
This is a quick weekly reminder of what is happening at Grace
in worship and in ways to connect and serve.
Pastor's Message
Dear Grace Friends,

I have just received word from our youth and leaders at camp. They are so remote, that for the most part they cannot communicate with us. Kristi called yesterday to tell me everyone was safe and sound and had arrived. Today the leaders took a trip to town and sent some photos.

I love camp! I am so glad that our kids are able to get away and spend a week without any technology and just be. My favorite time at camp was our quiet time. Every day we would take 10 minutes of quiet time out in the meadow, where we would be quiet, pray, read, reflect. These 10 minutes revived my soul and fed me with much needed solitude. Even though there were always kids giggle a few feet from me, or the sound of the Boulder River and the creek nearby, it was exactly what my soul needed.

My second favorite part of camp was folk dancing (see above), which our kids got to do as well. We learned old time folk dancing like the Virginia Reel and some other Jewish and Russian folk dances. These were high energy events that made everyone laugh and connect.

I recognize the need in my life for both of these experiences, the quiet times by the babbling brook, and the joyous times filled with people and laughter. I am so grateful that these are important elements of our own life together.

It has been so great to be meeting with people again, to have the halls of our church filled with groups again, to eat together and laugh together. It is also grace-filled to have moments of silence, soft music and prayer.

I hope that wherever you are that your spirit is filled with God: with laughter, with love, with joy, and with grace.

Blessings,
Pastor Joanna Mitchell

Grace's Opportunities for Giving
Noisy Offerings

The Noisy Offering for July will be on behalf of Rob, a young husband and father of 2 small children, who was critically injured by an impaired driver in downtown Minneapolis in late May. He suffered many broken bones and has a very long recovery ahead of him. Funds collected will help this young family with added expenses caused by this tragic accident.
