I Will Vote…Will You?
by Maribeth Wright, School Board President
|
At the time you are reading this article, there will only be 3 days to go until the November 3rd elections and over 33 million people will have already voted nationwide. Early voting options have been expanded this election due to the coronavirus. There is plenty of evidence that many Americans have taken advantage of the expanded options and cast their ballots. This early turnout is encouraging and follows record voter participation in primary and mid-term elections.
Our democracy is built upon the premise of exercising our right to vote. As citizens, taking this responsibility seriously is the most powerful way for us to join together and make sure our voices are heard.
I’m so proud to be part of the Norwalk School District. An example of our outstanding district was witnessed recently as our high school students embraced their right to vote and have been recognized for their actions. On October 8th Iowa’s Secretary of State, Paul Pate, presented the NHS Student Council with the Carrie Chapman Catt Award for their efforts to sign up and register over 90% of eligible students to vote. This award honors Carrie Chapman Catt, an instrumental leader in securing the passage of the 19th Amendment 100 years ago granting women the right to vote. These efforts by our students promoting civic engagement are commendable as these young adults and their voices are helping set the direction of our country in the years ahead.
As November 3rd approaches, I urge you to plan for how, when and where you will vote. If you have not registered yet, there is still time. You can even register when you go to vote. Polls will be open 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on November 3rd. If you need to find out where your polling location is located and/or identification required to vote, additional information is provided by clicking on the following link: https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/voterreg/pollingplace/search.aspx
Your vote and voice matters. I encourage all of you to vote on November 3rd. I will vote…will you?

NCSD Communication Sneak Peeks!
by Tiffany Redman, Communications Coordinator
|
|
Hello Warriors!
The NCSD Communications Department would like to share some exciting updates the District has been working on over the past several months. As our student enrollment and community continue to grow, we look for ways to enhance all areas of communication and support of our student, families and staff.
The District will be unveiling a new website in January of 2021. We have established that our existing website is in need of updated capabilities that will enhance the ease of user experience and better serve our community when it comes to finding valuable information.
In addition to a new website, the District will also be working to support the NCSD Branding Committee in finalizing an updated NCSD brand and a newly developed mascot in the coming weeks! Stay tuned for more information on branding updates coming in November!
Below are sneak peeks of the District's new website currently under development.
