AHFES Staff Update
Dear Teachers,

Many of you have worked with Clarissa, our beloved Manager of School Partnerships, for the past two school years. We are sad to announce that Clarissa will be leaving the Collaborative to join the School Performance Department of the DC Public Charter School Board. Her last day with the Collaborative is
today. 

While we are sad to see Clarissa go, we are excited for her  to continue her career in the public education sector. During her time with the Collaborative, she has thoroughly enjoyed working alongside dedicated and passionate arts educators and she will miss you all. 

The Collaborative will be in touch about staffing updates and the incoming Manager of School Partnerships shortly.
2020 - 2021 AHFES Orientation

The DC Collaborative is excited to announce that we will offer virtual arts and humanities education experiences through the AHFES program in the fall!

Although nothing can compare to an in-person field trip or workshop, we are thrilled to offer your students engaging, high quality virtual experiences during these uncertain times. DC Collaborative Cultural Institution and Practitioner Members are busy creating engaging learning opportunities that will compliment your virtual instruction and we will be offering these experiences in our AHFES Lottery and distributing them equitably.

To Become a School Partner
  1. Return the School Partnership Agreement (To be messaged out soon. Make sure you're on the teacher communication list!)
  2. Register for the virtual AHFES Teacher Orientation (Info below)
AHFES Teacher Orientation

The DC Collaborative invites you to attend our AHFES v2.0 Orientation on Tuesday, September 1 from 4:30PM - 5:15 PM in celebration of the first week of school. The orientation will be held virtually and will go over our new policies and procedures for virtual experiences. All schools who plan on participating in the AHFES program this school year must attend orientation.

Educator Needs Assessment
We Need Your Feedback!

Since the recent announcement that DCPS will be all virtual through the first term, the DC Collaborative needs to know both the feasibility of certain program logistics and what programming will meet your needs as an educator.

Please fill out the survey below by the end of the day on Friday, August 21 so we can best serve your students in a virtual learning setting. 
Distance Learning Resource Database
DC Collaborative Members are still adding to the DC Collaborative's 

On the database, you will find a compilation of online and printable arts and humanities learning resources for students, teachers, and families. It is our hope that that materials on this database will be used to enhance arts and humanities education, equitably, inside or outside of the classroom. The database now has more than 120 resources!

The database will be continuously updated with curricular guides, virtual field trips, and other educational activities to enhance students' at-home learning experiences as well as Professional Development for educators.

Please note: The Distance Learning Resource Database, is more for pre-recorded or sample activities. The AHFES v2.0 lottery will contain interactive virtual field trips and workshops that teachers need to register for live!
