Go fish!
Introduce youngsters to fishing! Sundays in May and part of June, children can try their luck at catching fish. The pond at the Hall Road entrance to Mission Creek and Shannon Lake will be stocked with trout and Park Interpreters will be on hand to help teach new fishers. We have a supply of rods, reels and bait for those who don't have their own gear. No fishing license is required for BC children 15 years old and under. This program is for children with a one fish per day limit. This is a drop-in program, no need to register.

Trail tips
Regional Park hours
May is the last month of spring hours (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.) in Regional Parks. Starting June 1 summer hours (6 a.m. to 11 p.m.) are in effect.

Bear season
Black bears, like many animals, call Regional Parks home. They are most active from April to November. Keep these tips in mind for your next park visit:
  • Be aware of your surroundings and avoid using headphones.
  • Watch for bear signs like scat, tracks, or fresh claw marks on trees.
  • Keep dogs leashed! Dogs are involved in over 50% of black bear inflicted injuries on people.

Park planning
Goats Peak - work on new entrance
Work has begun on the new entrance to Goats Peak off Whitworth Road. The area remains closed to the public until work is complete. This land acquisition adds 10.6 ha to the park. It ensures critical ecosystems, habitat, species at risk and important First Nations values are protected while providing opportunities for planned trail connections.

Glen Canyon - trail work
Work is underway in a section of upper Glen Canyon, from Lower Glenrosa Road and Aberdeen Road. Public access may be limited. The work includes improvements to the trail, installing guardrails, repairing viewpoints and improving signage.
