Did you know that Miracle League has been around for 20 years? It all started in Conyers Georgia with its first player, Michael. Michael was a 7 year old boy who used a wheel chair that loved to watch his younger brother play baseball. Eddie Bagwell, the coach of his brothers team, decided watching wasn't enough and invited Michael to join the team so he could play alongside his brother. The trend quickly caught on, within the year 35 children with disabilities were playing baseball on typical baseball fields.
The main concern, however, was the accessibility of the fields. The Rotary Club of Conyers and Rockdale, Georgia stepped in to build a complex that would suit the unique needs of the players. In April of 2000, the Miracle League and it's accessible complex complete with a rubberized field, wheelchair accessible dugouts, bathrooms and picnic pavilion, was ready to play ball!
